Meizu M8 Availability

I had a colleague call the Jiaotong campus one week ago, they had no phones and didn't know when they would have new ones. Since I live in Minhang too, it's the nearest one to me, although I have not bothered to ask for its exact location. I had a friend in Fujian (Qianzhou) and another in Zhuhai ask about availability for me, no phones available there too.

@Aimeitwins. Does your ID mean to have a crush or romantic feelings for the group TWINS? :P

After the recent news (or lack of news) of additional tester/demo units being available from Meizu resellers i thought it prudent to first check with my contact in Shenzhen before asking the same of the forum members. Here is the exchange i had with her today.

We do business with her company, and she is incharge of contact with us. I am using her to get me the phone as it was more expediant and appropriate for me rather than calling on some other friends who would be more easier to communicate with... for those of you not familiar with how hard it can be to get your message accross to the Chinese when not familiar with the language this should be interesting reading... i often have to calm down some of my engineers from pulling their hair out while explaining technical issues. I thought i was framing two very simple questions:

Me: ...if it is not too much of a bother maybe you can call the shop again for me and ask:

• Are they getting shipments of phones currently and giving to customers on waitlist, or are they waiting for a big shipment and then they will sell to the customers on the waitlist?

This M8 phone is a new product which is still on testing in China here, and only few of them are on the open market.So we hardly could not get the information of its selling and shipment as you requested.Sorry for that.

We double checked with the seller today, and they promise to get the phone for us before 11th Jan.The shipment of phone is supposed to take about 7-10 days,which means the phone can probably arrive at your place at the end of January.

some shops changed from "pre order" to "selling" and there are ebay-powersellers selling the phone, too.. are there news that say if this could be real offers?

No, probably people who think they can deliver in a few days.

I hate to go foul of the administrator or this topic, but we know from last weeks posts on the BBS that another batch of demo phones was shipped to stores, so possibly this was a larger batch, or maybe the people on the waitlist getting the phones now are more of the resale/third party kind...

According to the person i had charged with getting me the phone in Shenzhen she has the phone in hand (recieved it Saturday)... and has no reason to lie to me. So, have asked her to ship it to me - the original plan was to ship using my TNT account - but she said TNT in China said, they can't ship the phone with the battery (apparently some courier companies don't even ship phones from China at all! Strange).

In any case we will hopefully sort out the shipping issues and i will be able to post that the phone is in my hand.

I hadn't asked her for a picture, but she sent me one tried to post it (even resized) but uploads failed repeatedly... I'm not really inclined to ask her a lot of questions or have her take pictures, as she works for our supplier and is doing this as a favor for me. Though i will ask her if there is a network sticker in the back... i hope there wouldn't be and this one still has the wifi chip.

Is all the speculation necessary? Why don't we wait until we can safely assume that it is really out? Better yet, why don't we first wait for the phone to be officially released first?

@ anxiousone - Have you seen this forum before this topic? Every day people ask if store x or y really sells the M8. I don't quite get your eagerness to get me to change/remove this topic, what's the deal? I appreciate your postings. But please, not in this thread.

Don't get me wrong, i actually hate seeing all the new threads and topics started about x or y store (and can understand that it can be a pain to clean up) and also wouldn't want to be one to start a 'hey i got my m8 nahnahnah...' thread either.

I actually think for all those purposes, this sticky thread with the exact topic as is now makes it the perfect place to air our eagerness to get M8s, or mention that we did get ours...

Your pain in administrating this forum withstanding (and i do sympathize) but, for the record, i believe people should be allowed to make thier own mistakes if they spend money with sites/places that are so obviously counter to the prevailing logic or reality.

I just wanted to point out in my past few posts on this thread (one which i deleted as it was an angry rant)... that since a reasonable number of working M8s have been shipped and given to customers, that it is possible to perhaps see/purchase one through non-official sources, and in that buyer beware...

Hey anxiousone, it sounds like you're going to get your M8 soon. Are you planning to post pictures and talk about it for us?

If i get it in my hands, i will surely post... and most likely i will be asking more questions than answering... taking pictures maybe a bit harder as believe it or not i don't have a digital camera, i used to rely on my N95 for that task, but it is currently out of commission. will try though. Truthfully, since i am not in China i'd be more cautious doing software/hardware experiments with it. Lets hope TNT can ship it with the battery!

Some news with prices? In spanish forum talk more than 400 dolars to have it in Europe.... I don't pay more than 350 Dollars for and chinise Iphone Style Clone......

I'm really disapointed.....

As the title of the thread says... the M8 is NOT out OFFICIALLY... so, if you must have it now in a country other than China and have found a trusted source to buy the M8 second hand (one of the demo units, a unit from the Chinese market) then you should expect to pay the approx. 350 USD that person paid to get the M8 plus any premium that seller wants, in addition to shipping, handling and any customs duties.

If that is not acceptable to you, buy a ticket to China and get in line infront of Meizu Headquarters...

Just my humble opinion.

sorry to say that, but 400$ for the 8GB version will be common or even cheap. Don't forget the shipping, taxes etc. The most important question for me is still whether you can even use it in Europe... Or whether we really have to wait for a new European version...
