Today I saw it on taobao for sell, is it available in USA?
At this moment, there are 219 M8s "for sale" on Taobao BUT I'm sure
none of these sellers really has an M8 in their hand to sell.
One more time:
1. Jack Wong of Meizu has written that -at this time- NO SALES OF THE M8 ON THE INTERNET. If an authorized Meizu shop is caught selling online, for sure Meizu will take some kind of action against them. The reasons are: a) the M8 isn't even "legal" to sell yet because they do not have a network license from the government, b) Jack Wong wants to reward his sellers for being so patient while the M8 was under development and give them "exclusive" rights to sell the phone, and c) I think Jack Wong & Meizu want to give customers good service and a good buying experience...not just some anonymous Internet shop.
2. Meizu shops cannot even ship enough M8s to sell to customers in person. Most cities have wait lists and customers are asked to make a deposit. If Meizu shops cannot get enough M8s, how can a web shop be selling them??
3. Notice that on Meizu's website, you can buy an M6 Miniplayer, Meizu earphones, and Meizu accessories directly from their online ordering system. But you can't buy an M8. Why? Because, as above, Meizu cannot legally sell them without the network license. Therefore, Meizu shops are selling the M8 as "test units" and customers who buy an M8 at this time are "testers".
4. It's true that -in the future- you will be able to buy an M8 online, but right now any web shop that advertises an M8 should also say something like
"We expect to have M8s soon, first come first serve, please pay first to reserve your phone". If they do not say something like that, then they are lying and/or cheating. Even if they do say "we are taking deposits", the question still is: When will I get it
? The true answer is:
We don't know.
5. It's important to remember that the M8 is a product for China. Right now, Meizu is going to focus their attention on building success in China. Next will be Hong Kong, Macau, & Taiwan. Then perhaps other countries. This is going to be a difficult marketing problem because, as above, sellers will begin to sell the M8 on the Internet after the M8 becomes an "official" product (after receiving the network license and starting mass production) and Meizu will not be able to control them.
So yes, if you live outside China, this is all very frustrating and I'm sure many fans are going to go crazy with waiting. The MeizuMe forum is probably also going to go crazy with constant questions like these. Not much to do, though, except wait and see what Jack Wong decides to do.
So far, I think everything I wrote is everything that we know...or can guess.
