I have found an alternative GSM communicator for Meizu M8. It is O2 XDA Flame. I have bought one and I guess that it's what I want. Flame have some disadvantages like small battery life and it doesn't have an EDGE support. But It has 3,6" sensor display, 128 RAM and 2GB onboard flash memory. I use it approximately 1 month and I am almost happy.

A typical contract is around 15 € per month (including all costs you have) - without a contract it is around 10 € for me. And: if the X1 becomes as the specs are and the quality is comparable to the m600i - it will be more than only worth the money.

For smartphones 250 € are not much - at least for the good ones. You will not get better offers - not in Germany.

And do not forget - the iPhone is [499 € (= 748,5 $) + 24 x 49€ (= 1764 $)] = 2 512.5 $ in Germany.

That SE X1 looks really, really nice if you ask me. Seems like other mobile phone manufacturers are almost done with developing their own iphone-killers without cloning Apple too much.

The X1 has a keyboard as you can see below, where the m8 does not. The m8 has a slightly bigger screen, but SE has a "widescreen VGA" screen that consists out of 800x480 pixels which is better and sharper than that of the m8. It has 3G and 3,5G while the m8 has neither and runs Windows Mobile. On the downside there is only 400mb of free space on the device so you'll have to put an additional microsd card in for more space. Price wont be cheap.

The m8 is definetely outspecced by now, which is not surprising actually. The only point on which they compete right now is the cheap(er) price.

Watch the pictures below.

there is no doubt the X1 does look nice however......... Firstly this phone only has a 262,000 colour screen as opposed to the M8's 16 million colours. Secondly the screen is only 3 inches wide. Tius means that any video content which has an aspect ratio of 4:3 will only use 2.5 inches (horizontal) of the screen, which is pretty small IMO. Also 3 inches is not great for films. The extra 0.4 inches on the M8 makes a great deal of difference. Also as you mentioned you are relying on micro sd for a decent amount of storage, micro sd currently tops out at 8gb or 12gb I think, which means no 16gb option. While the X1 does have an 800x480 screen you are only looseing 80 pixels in width on the M8 which will not make much difference at all, the screen will still be razor sharp. Plus the X1 is sheduled for release in the second half of 2008, which will be right around the time when the M8 is said to be releasing. In addition, I don't want to even think about how much this will cost offline, prices will probaly start at around $1000 or more, this is how much the Nokia N95 cost offline when first released. the M8 will be way way cheaper. Fair enough it has HSDPA but I personally do not really need it and do not want to sign up to an expensive data plan. Many territories don't even have good 3G support anyway. All things consideredThe M8 is still looking like a good option.

Yes I know that the iPhone is expensive, but this phone isn't either.

I'm expecting 3G/3,5G data plans to become cheaper in the future as what happened with things like ADSL. I can't imagine how telephone companies are going to earn back their expensive licences if the usage of them isn't mainstream soon.

Atm you can only have affordable dataplans on GPRS-speeds (10 euro's/month). It should improve as time passes though.

Agreed with the rest you said though sere83

you only have to look at the third one, and its not placed in an enclosure, i was just looking at the fact that it has a nice interface and high resolution screen, also its running google's android software.
i agree they will have to come up with a great design to make it look attractive.

I'm talking about the third picture and the interface. Shortcuts should be translucent (or else they will cover half of my background picture --> that's a no-go for me). The symbols are way to plain and boring. Furthermore, there are too many shortcuts. Some are double (totally useless) and some are too similar (IM, SMS, MMS). There are even some which aren't clear (voice dialing looks like dictation function).
The only good thing seems to be the high resolution.

Hiphone is actually being reviewed by part of the meizu me team here and looks like one of the more promising iPhone clones to date.

what bothers me most with these clones is the terribly low screen resolution compared to what the m8 will have (260dpi) compare this to the iphone screen (160dpi) and you will be horrified to see the screen of the clones (have around 125dpi) wich is even lower than the PSP
