The S9 AMOLED screen is soooo sick, quality is perfect and you can use it in sun light.
The device is so thin you don't feel it in yur pocket.
Now sound quality is the best I have ever heared, my headhones ar living a second life. UI is smooth and well thaught, only transfer rate is slow but ou don't load 10 gigs of music every day.
Last but not least, battery life, a huge 55 hours for music and 11 for vidéo (thanks OLED screen). M8 doesn't come close to that.
I now have my diamond in my right pocket that gives me gps, wi-fi and phone and my S9 with its amazing capabilities in my left pocket and don't even feel loaded
Guys, go for this device, it is cheaper and way better....
i dont believe you dont feel loaded with packages in ur both pockets. jeans usually have tight pockets, and both filled with a gadget means no more space for anything else, and looks bad too. this is why i need an all in one device, an M8. i want to have only 1 pocket full.

no way, these devices are so thin, they hardly deforme your pockets.
In winter, I have my wallet and all extra stuff in my coat so no worries about that.
Il the summer I have a small bag, multi pocket trousers...

maybe not but no other phone has so good multimedia devices.
I am just saying you can keep your phone and go for a cheaper, better device.

So here is the great hope and great fear for Jack Wong. Will the M8 be so good that people trade out everything for a single device? Or is the M8 good, but not compelling enough to lure people away from multiple devices that perform as well or better?

One thing that bmob proves conclusively: Time is s l o w l y killing Meizu.

Hardware and OS (Linux) sound nice, but the price doesn´t.

I'm wondering whether the iPhone Nano rumors are true or not. That might shake the market up a little bit and make things for Meizu a little harder.

as far as i know, they aren't true. unless you mean that fake iphone nano from Thailand. but even if it was true, that phone would still have all the limitations of the current iphone, can't really be compared to the M8.

And as far as I know those rumors might be true. There are a couple of sources claming that Apple is preparing new iPhone devices although no one know if it's the so called Nano version. In addition to that, a know case maker, Vaja, added appropriate section to their website.
It is going to have iPhone limitations, but the regular people are not gonna care about it, they just want a cheaper Apple iPhone and they don't even know about things like ogg or wolfson chips.

the news i have read on US news sites say that there will not be a new addition to the iphone portfolio this year. only a netbook (or a bigger ipod touch or whatever) will be announced at macworld.
anyway, ppl might not care about ogg or wolson, but they could care about the lack of BT transfer or a2dp, and stuff like that.

The iPhone3G beta-unlock is out btw. Those locked phones floating around may have become a bit interesting.

Unlike many of the devices in this thread this new device from palm is in my mind a direct competitor to the M8 >>>

It is actually the first phone I have seen in a very long time that looks genuinely interesting.

The Palm Pre looks amazing! I was following the press conference a couple of hours ago, and was already awed just seeing pictures and reading descriptions of how it works. Now watching the videos just made it better. This is a great device, with a beast of a CPU. And the OS is probably the best I've ever seen for a mobile device!

For a company that many thought was going down the drain, Palm really came up with a nice surprise. :-)

Now, let's see the pricing on that thing... ~550USD unlocked, like JkPwNsTeR suggested, would actually be a great price for it's taget market. Unfortunately, it would still be a little too much for me.

well it looks like the M8 will have no wifi, so this may just be the next best thing.
