The long wait.. I just bought a Ipod Touch.. Well worth it

Was in regent street the other day , And went into the apple store (Supposedly the biggest one in the world floorspace wise)

Was amazed by the Iphone , But it was a little bulky and the expensive contract was too much..

I figured.. The M8 wont be around for at least another 6 months.. we havent even seen the start of a working model or any finalized designs.. i mean the button layout changed just the other week

The iphone seemed to bulky to me... Now the M8 is going to be the same , if not thicker in size.. Id be disappointed if i got that and it was that size

So i went for an ipod touch , and i must say its amazing , razor thing. and has such great integration of all the features...

Im not bashing meizu here.. Id go with the M8 if it was around right now.. But its not , and wont be for a while... Ive never owned an ipod before. But i must say its gonna be hard to go back... the quality of the product is amazing and the software is really neat. Itunes is brilliant and i prefer it by far to just copying over stuff...

So im sorry to all you meizu fans , But apples latest range is already a generation ahead of meizu...

To think when the M8 comes out a new line of ipod/iphones will be released.

I really hope they can pull this off a release the product very quickly with None/very little bugs.

@ lite: I feel you man. I'd go with the M8 if it was here and now to. But sadly I must say that the unlocked iPhone stole me away.

The iPod Touch might be my next DAP. Although I hate iTunes. >_<

I would like to know how good the battery is? When listening to music? movies? and web browsing?

There are loads of better (and free) alternatives to itunes. What i want to know is that the touch's sound quality is worth its $400. At least, is it better than the M6 in terms of SQ?

8GB Touch is $299

And I've heard that the sound was good but nothing more, not great but not bad either.

I did the same. I got my ipod touch on boxing day (day after christmas), i dunno if boxing day is just a word used in Australia or worldwide. But the touch is so worth it. To the above poster ^^ there is way more to it than just good sound. Web surfing is great, Movies are awesome, Screen is next to unscratchable, if you have it jailbroken there are a tonne of cool applications, games and themes you can get. I think i may end up getting an M8 next year for my birthday since my phone has practicaly had it. But even then i dunno, the iTouch has everything i would want apart from a camera and phone capabilities. And it's battery is great, honestly i wasn't expecting it to be that great since the iPod video's battery wasn't too great but this thing can go for ages. Same with the screen, iPod video's screen was easily scratched but with this it is next to unscratchable. And a whole lot of other things, i was not planning to get another apple product after being dissapointed by the iPod Video but they have certainly lifted their game with the iPod Touch.

If he only bought 8GB, I feel sorry for him. Also, I heard that the sound quality was not good at all, but I guess that is common with Apple products.

In my opinion, yes, because the Meizu will have a removable battery and will be unlocked.

Why feel sorry for him? And the sound quality is good. I don't really know what to compare it to. It sounds as good as the earphone jack in my computer. And it sounds like the sound of an iRiver i've used. Honestly there is nothing to complain about with the sound. And the Earphones that come with it are pretty good compared to the ones that came with my old iPod Video. When i had my iPod video i swapped to some $30 Sony earphones (yeh real expensive), they were way better than the ones that came with the iPod video. But on the iPod touch i cannot hear a difference between the ones that come with it and the $30 sony ones.

Again why would you feel sorry somebody for having an iPod Touch? Nothing to complain about, and yes the M8 will have more features than the iPod touch but it will also be release what like a year after the touch? So i could say there will be faster computers in a year so I'll wait a year for one.

Anyway, like i said. I still want to get an M8 when it comes out for it's phone and other features. Well depending on how good the reviews are, and whether they end up having all the features they say they will.

I'm on the touch right now ,its great .battery life is excelent by the way, Im prob gonna get the m8 when it comes out but I need somting for the time being , its actually really easy to type , auto correct works really well and this whole message took around minumite to write, iTunes is annoying but its great once you get used to it , I prefer it to drag and drop now, its convient and quick the multi touch finishes this thing of but there are some cons:
Resoloution not amazing but you can't tell really its a very crisp and sharp screen
no built in speaker
gets rather warm near the top.
I can't get tv output to work
e
there will always be cheaper alternatives but the little extras on this wit the amazinggly coded software works so well, for example if your headphones fall out t stop the song for you until you put em back so you done miss any of it battyer life on wifi screen half brightness and music with web browsing is about four hours jus music I'd be guesseing over 20hours remeber its got slot more stuff to power though

Edit: took more like three mind to write tat entire post

iTunes is free what are you talking about?

Also. All this talk of sound quality is largely dependent on the encoding, bit rate, and file format used. The DMP plays a small role but in the end its all about the aforementioned aspects.

I'm sorry to hear that your integrated sound is horrible... LOL, what iRiver have you been using? Also, Apple still locks you into their bloated software. So you're saying the Meizu will be available in September?

I don't think he was trying to say that iTunes wasn't free (actually, he never did) but he's saying that their are programs that are 10 times better than iTunes and don't cost you anything.

Bloated software? Are you talking about iTunes? You can use other programs such as Floola, but i don't have any problems with iTunes so i use it. And the iPod itself hasn't got "bloated software".The iPhone would probably be close to a year old before the M8 is released. Have you actually use an iTouch to hear it's sound quality?

Yes, if I've never used one, I never would have commented. I have used one and the sound quality is decent, but no where close to an iRiver's sound quality. When I say bloated software, I mean iTunes.

a jailbroken ipod touch sounds very appealing, but I'll stick it out for an m8 and enjoy my free samsung a930 and ipod video in the meantime.

Before my iPod touch i had a 30gb video. Whenever i saw the 60gb videos i was always like damn that thing is bulky. Now with the iPod touch my video looks bulky and very primitive, looks like it is 10 years old lol. Anyway, the M8 should be better, i would enjoy it's camera and other features. So I'll get one when it comes out and sell my iTouch if the M8 end up being all that it's expected to be and is to a quality as high as the iPod Touch (just looking at the touch is nice).
