On 5-11-2007 Google announced a Linux based mobile operating system called Android,
What is Android?
Android is the first truly open and comprehensive platform for mobile devices. It includes an operating system, user-interface and applications -- all of the software to run a mobile phone, but without the proprietary obstacles that have hindered mobile innovation. We have developed Android in cooperation with the Open Handset Alliance, which consists of more than 30 technology and mobile leaders including Motorola, Qualcomm, HTC and T-Mobile. Through deep partnerships with carriers, device manufacturers, developers, and others, we hope to enable an open ecosystem for the mobile world by creating a standard, open mobile software platform. We think the result will ultimately be a better and faster pace for innovation that will give mobile customers unforeseen applications and capabilities.

They even have partnered with 34 telecoms and mobile phone, solutions manufacturers like Sprint, HTC, LG, T-Mobile, Motorola, Nvidia, and eBay. Expect cool new apps developed for Android by the latter half of 2008.
Coming week will see the the Android Software Development Kit (SDK) landing in the hands of the developers and programmers. Now thats a great move by Google by releasing the SDK they could expect lots of third party apps by the time Android powered devices

I think that the M8 could see a good option, but it would be very ariesgado if you already have everything assembled or in the middle of development.
Because HTc draw a cellular phone with Android on February 2008.
And if meizu place ourselves in this community, because it is open to everyone and can build an operating system itself and much better than osx the iPhone.
But I also think that if development is a half is nonsense, but could get a model built for future new versions.
So you think a new piece of software, never tested in real life, could be better than an operating system, which was developed and improved over years, with a lot of experience? Ah, I see the point: Because Google did it. Yeah! Because, always remember: Google=good, Microsoft=bad.
First I want to see this Android in real life. Then I will decide if it is good or bad. Until now there is ... well ... nothing. A press release, that's all. I think the same way like Steve: http://youtube.com/watch?v=VLRtUGviSc8
Btw: I think you know how Google makes money? By advertising. I hope you like all the ads on your Android phone.
I bet you will not see more than 1 or 2 mobile phones in 2008 running Android and being successful.
(Don't get me wrong: I like new software. Everyone is welcome to develop. But I think it's kind of foolish to suggest software, from which not even an alpha version exist!)
It's a great idea actually. It's more like a research and development project than anything else though. I wouldn't want it coming on my hone right outta the box but I'd probably put it on and play with it after a good while
Out of more than 30 companys google gets the credit for Android. It's good to be google.
#2 The main reason i won't buy the M8 is because of the operating system. Windows Mobile is properly a nice os for a cellphone, if you are a windows user. But since i run linux on a part time basis i made a rule, i don't buy things that don't work with Linux, and since Win Mobile won't sync, I ain't buying it.
Google Likes Linux, so their stuff works with both Linux and Windows, Aka. i like Google better than MS. (and thats kinda the only reason)
Android won't have ads, prehabs some of the google apps developed for it will, but the system it self No. No one would buy it, and those who would, could just upload a new version without adds (the power of opensource)

Its Not Windows Mobile!!!
It's Windows CE!!! There Is A Big Diffrents.
Windows Mobile 6.0=More Like To A Cell Phone, The New Ver. Of It/
Windows Ce 6.0=More Like PDA-HomePc, Its Like Vista.
Google has launched the Android Developer Challenge
In the Android Developer Challenge I, the 50 most promising entries received by March 3 will each receive a $25,000 award to fund further development. Those selected will then be eligible for even greater recognition via ten $275,000 awards and ten $100,000 awards.
Instead of having Android out of the box it would be cool to have an M8-taylored Android ready to be downloaded and installed, if anyone should want to do it
Maybe with a nice budled software to easily save the M8 data, format it and install the new SO, with all the old data imported into it!
Who cares if it has anything to do with google or not.. Its based on a linux kernel and of course it is Open Source, and it looks to be very intelligently designed. I will be suprised if this isn't another firefox vs internet exploder....
android vs windows ce.
Also
"The Android Developer Challenge will award $10 million to developers who build great apps for Android."
Someone made the comment about how this is an untested os and something along the lines that no one should ever try because ms is perfect (yeah ok, an exaduration but some competition never hurts).. Well, I have read up into this, and watched some videos on it, and one of the developers has been using a phone with android on it for 6 months prior to the video..
This is exacly what we need, a company that tests their software, and not just that, You can develop your own software for your phone, how can you lose? I am already coming up with software for my phone that are going to save me and my business time..
Im sure some will disagree with me, but I think anything open source in a popular device is a good idea.
