Will the Minione browse the Internet through it's WIFI connection or will it go through it's service provider.
Because I don't really want a phone. Just a good portable way of getting to the net, writing e-mails, and if possible handwriting recognition. (Not really needed but would be appreciated.)
And will Firefox Mobile and other mobile browsers really have support for this?
Thank You

Thanked 0 Times in 0 Postslol, when you're inside a wifi network that is connected through internetprovider X, i guess the m8 will use this connection (very fast).
When there's nothing around you will have to use the EDGE connection (very expensive). And things like that will go through your phone service provider.
Time will tell about your last question, but it's running WinCE 6 (if it can run on that platform...).

Where WiFi is not available your service provider will kick in. Or at least that's how it's supposed to work.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsThanks about the browsers but Deepfish is only a demo.
Anyway. Does anyone know some portable media player with a browser.
The Ipod Touch is best but I would like to find it for a good price. I found a site that will sell it for $200 but you have to spend at least $500 to make a purchase.
Another one I am considering is the PSP. It could remote play with my PS3 and that is good. But I'm not sure about the browser.
The Sony Mylo and Archos 605 are out of the question because of price and Archos needs the feature as an add on.
If anyone knows one please tell me.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 Postshm...perhaps buying something temporary until the m8 comes out.
Bad thing about the psp is you still have to recompress your video's. Browsing looks kinda akward to me with a keypad.
The Touch would be perfect, why the hell is it so damn expensive....

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsPSP browser is great, but the only gripe I have with it is the Memory stick storage. recently, I've seen $60 4gb memory sticks, $35 2gb memory sticks and $20 1gb memory sticks(I have a 1gb from costco) which don't allow for much storage, but if I were to make it a full media player it woul dbe well worth the cost.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsPSP isn't that great for web browsing, the biggest let down is it's low memory. Maybe this is less of an issue for the slim version which has improved memory, although I am not sure.
Have a look at the nokia n800 or n810 if you are looking for an alternative to the m8 as a web browsing device.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsYes I know it will support Wifi, but I don't want something like the Iphone.
All I want is a way to browse the Web and send e-mails.
I know sending e-mail on the PSP will take some serious time, but it seems like my best bet since I can remote play it with my PS3.
And the slim PSP has more RAM so I think that I will get that instead of the Minione.
And I have no frickin clue when it will come out.
( Not more RAM than the Minione. Just more RAM than the older PSP.)

I don't think you understand. The M8 will have WiFi therefore you can use it for a internet connection and use any web based apps as well. Maybe I just don't understand your question.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsIMO We don't need another Wifi Internet Browser... We have nokia tablets, and a zillion other Laptops and pda's with wifi..
The only thing that sells the iphone and the m8 is the service provided internet from the cellphone service provider... I don't even want the phone part of it, I just want a mobile browser that can work wherever I can get a cell signal. Wifi only lasts a block... on a train it is absolutely worthless I've been tryin to hack the iphone to work with with t-mobile's data-only plan but to no avail.
So assuming the M8 uses provider internet, I can get the $30 data-only plan from T-mobile and use the M8 on the EDGE network.. It may not be as fast as EV-DO but it will suffice for some simple youtube, email, instant messaging, and more.
I find the ipod touch to be absolutely unnecessary unless people want a touch screen mp3 player "Wi-fi" isn't as portable as it needs to be.
I just wish AT&T would get some sense and offer data-only plans for the iphone... no way would i switch my current voice carrier for AT&T's crap network.
Wait for the ipod touch wi-max in 5 years.. then it might be useful... till then M8 better do it right.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsThere is nothing like a "wifi" browser.
Wifi is just the way how you connect to the internet. You can browse the ordinary internet with any browser that will work with Windows CE 6.0. Certainly the internet explorer can be used and maybe Opera. With these browsers you can connect to wap websites, too, but wap pages are sooooo booooooring
