yeah I agree, march 08 seems a lot more likely. The problem is by that time I think there will be a number of better devices on the market than the m8. However the main 2 advantages the m8 has over all other devices that i don't see many companies implementing in cell phones before march 08 is free codec (xvid etc)/lossless audio format support (eg. flac) and more importantly USB OTG. USB OTG means esentially that you can have vastly increased storage capacity, from hard or flash drives. I don't think cell phones will have more than 16gb of memory by march 08, which still gives the m8 an advantage.

Even if the M8 will see the world on March 2008, who wants to buy a device which is far more complex as the M6 from such a trustless company?
* Never solved the firmware issues on M3 and M6
* Never responding to customers complains
* Never fullfilled the features they promised in selling spec.

Who want be such an idiot and believe in reviews?
I bought my M6 also because some reviews - never again!
In future I will take a good look at the critical voices in the forums.

Ultrabright: Yeah I totally agree with you! I find it astounding that the m6 and m3 glitches have been so widely publicised on both this and the chinese meizu forums and they still have not been solved. Also, considering J.wong actually posts in the meizu BBS himself, someone must have messaged him directly, surely?. It seems to me that they actually may not have the technical expertise to fix the glitches. However in saying that, the m8 will be built on a windows CE framework so with any luck the firmware will be built on a more stable base rather than from scratch as with the m3 and m6 firmware. In terms of reviews I think there are so many people writing reviews who do not have a clue about what they are talking about (and often do not do their research), particularly when it comes to the advanced features and technicalities of devices (which the more advanced user would be interested in). Once I get hold of an m8 believe me I will be going over it with a fine tooth comb when I review it.

Very true. The software is designed my Microsoft no Meizu. But didn't they obtain some sort of licensing that allows them to modify the OS features down to the last bit process?

i'd say if there were another touch-smartphone with 720x480 (or better) resolution with a close enough price and better branding, i'd buy it immediatly.

problem is there is none. even the iphone's screen is too small for native video's

My Meizu
Here's the current situation...

A prototype will be ready before end of year (2007) which they will bring to trade fairs CES and CeBIT.

However, the final product will probably not be made widely available until March - April 2008.

omg; and in March - April we will only get the non-3g-non-frontcam-8gb-version?

the rest will come even later - that's the whole point of having the 2.75G-version m8

That sucks terribly. Meizu company is taking far too long with this product. Don't announce a phone which you can't even release within the same year..

march-april! oh dear! 5-6 monthes in tech is an extremely long time. By then we will probably be seeing 16gb handsets with divx support, 5mp+ cameras and 800x480 screens. Meizu is taking way to long with this, the spec might even be slightly outdated by then. This basically means that meizu are most likely not going to release a new product for almost half a year! are they insane?

Omg, a protoype to the Cebit? The Cebit will take place in March 2008!

So I think I'll have to go with the Neonode N2 in the meantime ...

Thumbs down

Just forget it. I'm not getting this phone anymore. Why announce a product that cannot be release within the same year. I don't care what kind of problems you run into in the development process it should never take this long.

Hello Mr. Wong,
do you hear me? I'm a European business trainer - certified! It's very obvious that you and your company needs help. Targeting the right markets in correspondation to your resources is lesson Nr.1.

Unfortunately your M8 is already dying. Why? Because also the chinese market today is demanding for a certain level of quality in this segment. This means you will have noticeable production costs! Without any advantage on the market! Why? When the M8 will be lauched there will be enough competitive devices, better than the M8, for a very competitve pricing. Sorry, You are too late!
Definetly you should think now about a M10. Would be great to see soon the GUI ;-))

Greetings
M6

good.. never took a look at this thread before... so I'll have to wait some months with my new iPhone and perhaps a Neonode N2 as well.

Fair enough for the long wait

^ Yup, that's what you'd find here too if you dug a little deeper. It's the most recent release date. However, there might be a chance of it being released Q1.
