iPhone's price down to $399 for 8GB - what now, M8?

$400 16gb vs $400 8gb is a tough choice. Hmmm...

once again all of you people complaining about price need to get your heads checked by a specialist. These prices are very cheap, considering meizu are a small company, with miniscule buying power compared to apple, yet still choose to use quality components. Find me a 16gb cell phone with ALL the capabilities that the m8 is said to have for $400, i'll make it easy for you.......there isn't one. Also find me a $320 cell phone with ALL the capabilities (including unlocked, usb otg, all the codec support etc) the 8gb m8 is said to have.....easy again... there isn't one. All this crap about a new 8gb unlocked iphone costing any where near $300 is complet s**t. To compare an iphone (which has a lower spec than the m8 anyway) on a 2 year AT&T contract to a higher specd new unlocked m8 is a completely unfair and frankly stupid comparison to even attempt to make. THE TRUTH IS (listen closely you clowns): An unlocked iphone 8gb on average costs $500 plus and gets outspeced by the 8gb m8 in almost every department. So basically a 16gb M8 still costs less than a new 8gb unlocked iphone. Also you would be paying $500 + for a lower specd phone anyway if you bought an iphone. Only time will tell what prices will drop to. By the time the M8 is released the iphone may well be a better deal. Go look on ebay....do none of you do any research? You are living in lala land if you think meizu should be selling this any cheaper. Go look at the price for a highend nokia or sony ericsson phone, they are all WAY more than the m8 and probably still don't come near the m8's spec. Just because meizu can sell flash daps for cheaper does not have any correlation with the prices of cell phones, its a completely different market.

The proposed price for the Meizu M8 has been lowered by about 80 dollars for each model. The 4GB is 260 the 8GB is the 320 and the 16GB w/ edge is 400.

Plug that in your calulator Apple.

Another thing to consider is the fact that the cowon Q5 PMP which is based on Win CE 5.0 (not 6.0) and actually has a similar spec than the m8 apart from the Q5 having a larger screen size + res, larger codec support, larger disk size and DVB-T/HSPDA support, no cell phone capablities and a slower processor. This machine is said to cost around £430-£471!!!! in the uk, thats almost $1000!!! Another reason to back the claim that the price of the M8 is actually remarkably cheap.

I agree 100% with you HugoOliva... but also in another aspect: we are seeing here people arguing about a monster machine which main attraction is all imaginable technologies included in one device. We have read of good persons here asking for the latest technology they have hear to be included... if this happens it will cost more than what the impressive iPhone (oh god almighty!!!... God bless you!!) initially costs... let's said about US$ 600???

The thing is... all this good persons are users of a MP4 which cost is about US$ 150.- ... I ask for the non-Europeans... are we so rich that we will spent 4 times such value for a device that will twice the functions of other devices they we already have... like it is PDA, cell phone, GPS, VBH-T () radio, MP4, etc, etc, etc.

Europeans probably will be able... but we the rest of the world?

Are u an idiot? I know the phone hasn't been released yet I am making a purely SPECULATIVE comparison based on the information given out by meizu. I was merely setting the people straight who were originally making another misguided SPECULATIVE comparison between the price of the iphone and the meizu m8. The iPhone is not crap. And no, you don't need to sign a contract to buy a iphone, you can just unlock it.

In the US, yes. In Germany you AFAIK have to sign a contract, and then you get the phone. And in the US they have limited the iPhone to 2 a person, and you have to pay with a credit card, so they can check.
