M8 a phone?

I've been reading all these articles from gizmodo and engadget about the M8 and how it was everything except an actual phone...is it actually a phone or not?
Have they got their phone license yet?

responses would be greatly appreciated...

As far as anyone can surmise, it will be a phone in China, but outside of China is still not exactly clear.

But, knowing if they have started, or are in the process of registering it with the proper regulatory authorities would be nice to know. At least that would show their intent, since it would have to have an FCC ID # to be used in the US and probably similar for other countries.

it's a GSM phone. the phone capability may be disabled for other countries, but it will be physically capable of being a phone on compatible GSM networks.

The phone will only be working on AT&T and T-Mobile in the US so far. Once the licenses are obtained it should work for all networks.

P.S: This phone may never reach the CDMA networks in the US
