More M8 info from JW

Today on Meizu BBS a member speculated that the recent M8 pictures released revealed that the SIM card would be located in the same position as the iPhone.




J. Wong responded with a new picture of the M8 showing that the SIM card would be located below the battery. He also revealed that TV-Out and external mouse and keyboard would be achieved through the USB port.

Is this the final proof for the M8 having phone abilities ? I was not sure about that after what I've read. This looks more like a design study than a photo to me.

To the best of my knowledge there was never any question that the M8 would include cellphone ability. There is concern however that the required licensing may not be finalised in time so the design will enable the phone component to be added after release if necessary. There is also a low-end version preposed with no phone or camera.

Ive got a few questons on thbe M8 that im sure others do aswell.

What memory card/s does it support?
Does it have infa-red?
Will there be a built in TV tuner?
If yes , Where is the ariel , Ive heard that an inbuilt ariel will get interferance because of it being too near to the PCB?
Will the GPS modlue addon sitll be avalible?
Are hardware/skin updates available?
Will a FM tuner be built in? (Id reccomend this were included as it is on most new DAPS)
Will Meizu develop playlist syncing software for pcs?
Will the screen have a glass cover to it , If so id reccomend the glass cover was lowerd back behind the metal rim as alot of the iphones are prone to the glass breaking.
Is the "M" bit a actual button atall , If so is it joystick style or just tacticle?


Im gonna buy one anyhow aslong as the tv tuner works in the UK.

It is a trade off between phone(portrait) or video viewing(landscape).
Landscape vs Portrait

To me it is better to leave it at the sides since if i were to watch shows on it i would use earphones rather than the built-in ones.
But each have their own preference.

1. No memory card slot
2. No Infra-Red, not many still use them anyway

4. Will the GPS modlue addon sitll be avalible? <-- don't get what you mean, but it doesn't have built-in but able to have GPS functionality through Bluetooth
5. Are hardware/skin updates available? <-- no idea it not even released yet

7. Will Meizu develop playlist syncing software for pcs? <-- no idea what you are talking about but if your talking about software syncing it is not known yet, hopefully there will be some syncing software

Im not an idiot , The specs you mentioned are undecided as of yet. I can read and have read a of the specifications. A DBV-H tv tuner is inbuikt into the player as stated by many, The M8 is a DAP and a phone , This includes the need for a FM tuner. There was a supposed ADDON GPS module that clipped into Via the pin connector aswell as a camera addon for the non camera models.
The "M" bit is a on/off button for the entire system (Not reset)

And dont argue from my opinions , The iphones glass cover does break , My dads glass cover got broken from a foot drop.
By updates i mean , can we skin it , I assume we can.

DVB-H The inbuilt TV tuner ony operates in eurpoe and china currently.

I really am a fan of meizu and want to buy the M8 as soon as possbile and i have put a blind eye to all of the things about it being a iphone clone but its odd how they only finalise where the sim card goes on the thing after the iPhone comes out and they probably have one with them or went to try it out and use it in america to finalise there one.. Also cos all we seem to see is the homepage of the device and computer graphic rednerings of it.

I don't know how you can expect people to answer your questions lite, most of us can not look into the future.

No offense was meant, just that your reply to kagnon seemed a bit crude at first sight and information about the M8 is dripping veeery slowly at the moment so none of us can really answer your questions although we're all very excited about this device.

My bad in saying iphone's glass doesn't break, but all screens are breakable especially touchscreens cause they don't have double layered protection.
Just that i saw stress tests of iphone i would say that there were a lot more rugged compared to most touchscreens.

Does this mean that "USB on the go" will be in the mini-one ? :eek:
