Alright everybody here is my little review for the Hua Long IP2000 (assuming that IP stands for
iPhone). Now please be warned that these pics where takin with a Samsung Trace (T-519) which
actually has a decent 1.3 megapixel camera, but im guessing because of some of the colors used on
the sidebar of the main screen on the IP2000 they didnt come out great but they were the best
shots possible.
For those of you who don't know the Hue Long IP2000 is one of many iPhone clones already out
even though the iPhone itself isn't even out yet. I say that because I actually own a couple
of said "Korean Knock-off/Rip-offs," and those "clones" usually don't come out untill well
after the real thing is out, so that shows you just how wanted the "real" Apple iPhone is
if these things are already coming out.
The IP2000 retails in China for $140, but of course on eBay you're gonna pay more than that
of course because thats how sellers on there make money which is understandable. I got the
IP for $270 and this same guy is now making a lot more than that as he now lets the auctions
go instead of just "buy it now," and he's getting bids of over $400 (and yes before you
ask these people have and do pay) which I think is just is just great because the guy
himself is a really good seller anyway!
Now reviewing a device like this *CLONE* you gotta go a little easy on it as it is a fake
after all, but they really took their time with this though. Most Asian marketed clones
feel very poorly made (like the others I have). With the IP2000, this is not a problem as the
build quality is superb, i was VERY impressed with its physical build.
Like other Asian knock-offs, The GUI's on these things are sub-par and very
poor to say the least, i mean most don't even run basic Java, but the IP, once again excels
in this area as it runs Windows CE.Net 5.0, although pirated, it is Windows and it is
a real OS! If y'all have ever seen or even heard of the Gizmondo mobile gaming device you'd
know that it runs Windows CE.Net 4.2 with its own custom GUI/dashboard. The IP2000 does the
same exact thing, except running an updated Windows CE, with its own GUI/dashboard. The
IP's dash is actually really nice, very intrusive and responsive! Its menu and sub-menus are
all very organized, yet another feature not found in very many Asian knock-offs.
The multimedia features are wonderful, the audio player is nice and loud with external sterio,
and the video player is clear and looks very stunning with the IP's huge 3.5" screen. What I
like most about the video player is that you can play it in landscap or portrait view and
when you switch it to portait view your on-screen controller, which is located in the lower
left hand corner slowly fades away and comes back with a touch on the screen. I mention that
because thats just one feature that proves that these guys really made sure to add detail and
and make this clone as professional as possible. As far as games go it has Bejeweled (more
than likely pirated as well like Windows) and a nice and addictive Pokemon puzzle game
(which looks to be homebrewed as it uses sounds from ICQ, yes the IM clint).
Now this clone as more iPhone features than just the crown-fish wallpaper as it is, believe
it or not, multi-touch and let me tell you, it is amazing; I really can't to try a Windows
mobile game (of course it has to be one modified for Windows CE but I have some somewhere,
if not I know where to get them at) as I think touch screen games like Call of Duty would
work great with the multi-touch technology!
Now being in the US and this phone actually only being Dual-band, I can't comment on any
service feature other than that the internet browser looks really nice (pretty much a
modified Microsoft Internet Explorer). I will, however, be going overseas to Germany for
a month so afterwards I'll continue this review with talks of its network quality and anything
else related to that subject. I can, though, tell you that VOIP will be very possible via
Skype as the IP's Micro-SD's slot is external and not under the battery, so when Micro-SD WiFi
cards become a reality in July (I said in a recent post that they were already out but I
mistakened them for Mini-SD not Micro-SD/T-Flash but after reasearch t-flash wifi will hit
stores in July) it'll be possible to actually use this phone as a internet phone.
Overall I love this phone, I've always had a thing for knock-offs because they're a fraction
of the price and they usually have more features than its real counterpart, but at the
sametime they can be very glitchy and as I said above they're known for having poor build
quality as well as a very bad GUI. This iPhone clone, though, actually put those concerns
to rest, though, as it is nothing like most other clones out of the market. Be warned though
it is still a fake, its still nothing more than a replica of probably the most awaited
phone/moble device in history and this review was taken very lightly as I dont believe you
can be really strict when it comes to reviewing a fake or a clone, so with that said, dont
read to much into this, as a lot of comments were soley my opinions.
Anyways everybody this concludes my review of the Hua Long IP2000 if I missed anything or
if you have any questions PLEASE post them I will answer and comment on anything I missed
as well as answer any questions! Pictures will be posted in the morning, thanks all!
