Need Help!!!about Imei

Hello All,

i have one Problem. Hope somebody can help. I wanted to give my M8 to my brother as present who live in another country. But there is a problem. If you bring a mobilephone that country from abroad you cant use it. You need to register it with a new buyed simcard. The phone works only with this simcard for 1 year only. I hear there is only possibilty to rewrite the imei number. Do you know how can i change the imei number? We will use the imei number of a broken mobilephone. If there are same imei number on the same network they block both phones.

I don't think it will be easy to rewrite the IMEI of your M8. It's on a different (unwritable) part of the NAND memory.

I dont think you can change the IMEI...keep your M8 with you dude!

I googled for it, and it seems that it really is possible. However, it also seems to be illegal, so you won't probably get an answer here.

I actually changed the IMEI of my LG KS20 once. I did it for unbricking the phone functions cause I forgot to back-up my phone's unique data.

on china phones with MTK6225 processor it was quite easy...
But it was also often neccecary because they are made in the thosends with the same IMEI...

Maybe there is a Windows CE tool for this, i had seen my IMEI somwhere in the registry.

this post is quite old, but as Loonix said, maybe there is a tool: I need to get my IMEI for my M8 back. It was "deleted" after a reset.
Anyone can help me?
