Thanked 3 Times in 3 PostsMy phone switch off alone
Hi,
I feel like I always write topics with complains and I am sorry but, well, I wish this device would work as it should...
a couple of month ago, I sent my M8 FE for repair. I got the screen and the gsm memory changed.
I updated the firmware and it just rocked like a charm until a week ago.
I am experiencing auto switch off.
It happens a lot. The same happened last year with my old parts, but the firmware was shi*y so... But now the device was quite good, I don't get it.
Typically it happens like this: I have my phone correctly charged and idle, I switch on the screen with the m button and unlock it look the time, or read something quickly on the net, and then I lock it again. A few minutes later I take it again and it's off. Not way to switch it on without pulling the battery out first.
It worked like a charm, but now... I am starting to hate it, really.
It didn't fall, but the other day I went to a cyber to print docs and plugged it to an old xp machine there... This, and a problem with a hot unplug from my W7 because It wasn't correctly recognized.
I cleaned the registry, but it still occurs. Firmware 0.9.9.8.
Does it happen to any of you?
Thanks for reading.

Thanked 83 Times in 30 Postsi don't know that's goin wrong, but would suggest you upgrading to the lastest FW, 0.9.9.16 first. see how's that going.
by the way, I did have the power-off(sleep away, never wake up) issue on some FW before.

Thanked 3 Times in 3 PostsFirst I would like to thank you for your help.
I have tried to move the battery but it is well in place so it doesn't move, then I pulled a little the springs and it seemed to work, but I just checked my phone now (4 hours without touching it) and it was off.
I will try to update the firmware, though I don't think is linked since it worked a month with the 0.9.9.8 without any problem.
What a piece of crap really, for a $500 device I mean (the amount I paid since I have it).
edit: sorry for the last sentence, but I am tired to have problems with it. I hope the android team will be able to make this hardware work better than meizu.Last edited by Lothar; 07-01-2010 at 10:06 PM.

Thanked 481 Times in 147 PostsYou should go 'only' for an original 1300mAH Meizu battery. They cost $15,00 in a shop which I can´t tell. Hint: First hit on this Google Search

Thanked 189 Times in 130 PostsI wouldn´t go for a new battery right away, since in Lothar explanation he doesn´t mention that the battery is flat.
he says:
lothar, if new FW doesn´t help, try to connect your m8 without battery to your charger, power it up and work a bit with it to reproduce the problem.A few minutes later I take it again and it's off. Not way to switch it on without pulling the battery out first.
if after a few hours the device is still on , buy a new battery.
If not (m8 not working), send back your m8 for repairs.
My FE had a similar problem, due technical problems it kept on shutting off, i received an SE type as replacement and never experienced any problems anymore..

Thanked 3 Times in 3 PostsSorry for answering late, but I tried to observe the functioning of this problem. After changing the firmware, I tried to test everything you said, but, it doesn't seem to be following any logical scheme...
In this span of 6 days it did switched off alone two times (one time during the night, one during the day), but for the last 26 hours it hasn't and I haven't done anything special: wifi browsing, music, no call...
It is just weird!
I am sorry I can't give any other info, but I just don't know what's wrong.
What about the temperature? it's winter here and I don't heat the apartment (trying to save a bit of money) and the temperature goes low at night...

Thanked 189 Times in 130 PostsLothar, where the hell do you live?it's winter here and I don't heat the apartment (
Overhere it is 33 degrees when i open up my frontdoor, luckely its a comfortable 24 degrees with the airco on
Anyhow, i remember lots of complains on the bbs forum of people who had issue´s with an m8 while it was freezing outside.
So you may have found your issue!
What is the temperature at night?

Thanked 3 Times in 3 PostsIn Chile...
I don't have any thermometer, but I know that outside it was around 0° at night. Thus in the apartment, it should be around 10° I guess.
I know it's looks stupid, but I have currently no job, so I try to lower my expenses...
It just wear good clothes and it's ok.

Thanked 189 Times in 130 Postsalright, like HondaRacer also mentions this issue will problably be caused due the freezing temperatures.
Can understand this, the living qualities in Chile are lower then overhere.no job, so I try to lower my expenses...
Thing you might try is placing it inside a cooling box, it will isolate a bit againt the coldness.. (reversed effect normally a cooling box serves to cool down everything, but since it is cold outside it isolates the heatness inside)

Thanked 3 Times in 3 PostsHi,
I put a new 1300mA in my M8 and I am changing it right now. The switching off problem occured everyday so I deceided to use it (I had bought it to Meizu when I sent it to fix "dead touchscreen" and "no service" problems).
But, I just thought of something: in the control panel (windows, control.exe, there is a "power" section. In "Schemes, what are the default options for "battery power" and "ac power" profiles? I may have changed something here one day with my big fingers... there are two idle and one suspend.

You just have to check you options...
