How to replace the touchscreen!
Hey, here are some pics and instruction if you need to replace your touch.
I brought the screen at ebay from maxlzf2008
I have a M8 SE with the 2ND touch screen. Here you see the old and the new one.
My new one has no Speaker! So I had to remove the old and put it in the new one. I took a small screwdriver to push it out. I was very careful, but nearly distroyed it! The case of the speaker opened and the coil was visible. I closed it and it was ok. So be very careful if your new screen has no touch too!
You should although remove the volume switch from the new touch and use the old one, so you didn't have to solder.

This and a tweazers is all you need.

First you have to open the battery case. Then remove the battery and your simcard.
After that you need to remove the two toarx screws. I ve used a small screwdriver for slottet screws, cause I have no toarx. Anyhow it fits very well.

Now its time for one of the hardest part:
Take your credit card or something else (a guitar pick might work even better).
Start on below and put the card in the gap and slide along it. Open the sides first, then try the top. The case should open. Be carefull, but you need to use some force...

Now its open, so remove all the other screws

By hixc at 2010-06-27
You allthough need to remove the screws of the switch on the side

By hixc at 2010-06-27
Now it should look like this

By hixc at 2010-06-27
Now you can remove the old touch use tweezers for it. Be carefull and pull it out.

By hixc at 2010-06-27
Now remember: If your screen doesn't have a SPEAKER you have to put in you old one.
Take the tweazers again and put it in the socket.
Put all screws back at their place. Don't forget the switches and click it together.

Thats it
Please ask if something is unclear.Last edited by reptile$$; 06-27-2010 at 08:43 PM.

what did you do to prevent dust getting between screen and touch?
-
06-27-2010 #3
yeah thats a problem...
I left the foil on the new touch until I close the cover. The LCD can be cleaned with the Meizu cloth.
It will be nearly free of dust. If the screen is on you dont see the dust anyway.
BTW: If you have an air compressor it will be the best way to remove dust from hardware.

Thanked 189 Times in 130 Postswould not try to swap them, the SE has another internal design over the FE.
Trying to add a SE digitizer on FE might f** up your device..
save the cash if you can´t find a digitizer for your device & send it back for repairs.

Thanked 26 Times in 18 PostsDoes the new digitizer include the metal frame?
-
07-10-2010 #14
yes the new one has a metalized frame too.
even the inside is metaliezed as you can see on the first picture.
You get the complete front cover, but without the speaker.

Thanked 1 Time in 1 PostHi
I have replaced the touch screen on a M8 FIrst Edition using the same Snaptics TN1195 screen/digitizer from this ebay seller eBay My World - phone2010china
The Item's title is: OEM Touch Screen Digitizer COVER for Meizu M8 (1nd)
This seller does not have this item for sale now, but you may be abble to recognize it being sold elsewhere on ebay, because the photo shows the inside of both the 1nd and 2nd versions side by side and the 1nd version clearly has the music button.
The problem is I now have a touch screen that will not respond and I do not know what to do. I cannot even initiate a firmware upgrade to resolve the problem. Has anyone got an answer to this problem, or should I send my Meizu for repair?

You are shure to have the right version (1nd)?
If it doesn't work with the new touch, send a message to your seller. He will send you a new one, i think.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI've installed a new touch screen on my "M8 FE" and I have only sensivilidad at the top of the screen. The touch screen is the purchase to the seller that "reptile $ $" set in the first post. The seller tells me over and over again that the touch screen is tested before shipment and to work I have to calibrate the touch screen. Anyone else with this problem? Thanks.
