Thanked 31 Times in 18 PostsI have been doing a lot of test today. I believe the improvements were in the firmware. I can send send text messages and picture messages (sms and MMs). But I can not receive. Anything thing I have not been able to do is receive email from with my phone number I believe if I solve one of these problems I will fix or come close to fixing both.
This is what I mean:
T-Mobile: phonenumber@tmomail.net
* Virgin Mobile: phonenumber@vmobl.com
* AT&T for SMS phonenumber@txt.att.net, for MMS phonenumber@mms.att.net
* Sprint: phonenumber@messaging.sprintpcs.com
* Verizon: for SMS: phonenumber@vtext.com,
for MMS: phonenumber@vzwpix.com
* Nextel: phonenumber@messaging.nextel.com
You can send with a email account to your phone. I wonder if you can setup the email client of your phone up with the client of Phone carrier?
I will see.

Thanked 31 Times in 18 PostsI had to go back to Firmware 0.9.3.18 A lot of funny things were starting to happen to my contacts so I had to go back. I will miss not be able to send a picture message anymore. I did all the changes I did in the previous one and that's all I get is good old standard text messaging. I had to restore my contacts from the sim because the new firmware does not support the old one.
If you have done this you know if you have one contact with more than two numbers then the phone does not put them back how you saved them, it gives each number it's own spot that's easy to fix if you have 10 to 15 contacts but if you have over 400 then you have a job on your hands. I have to remember to make two backups if I decide to play with "widgets" in the future.
At least I am sure the MMS problem is a Firmware issue plain and simple. Just like the sound issue. Which I now have back. Still if you are forced to choose which basic function you should have I think a clear call would be at the top the list. Oh, I almost forgot loud music that certainly helps.
Anyway, I have a lot work to do. @cmdv have fun.

Thanked 31 Times in 18 PostsI Finally got 0.9.3.18 to send a MMS message. Settings are different from the widget firmware, but it made a lot of sents thanks to the example by, yunfan and Rori. It's getting a little easier now. Instead of using epc.t-mobile.com I had to use wap.voicestream.com. I still need to do more test. It's hard to find someone who will respond to you when they don't want you to do anything for them but I will manage.

This one handles GPRS
This handles MMS
So far I have not been able to receive but I think I am close. I am just enjoying the 0.9.3.18 firmware. It burns the battery fast but it's a small price to pay.
Using Firm: 0.9.3.18
Carrier: Tmobile USA
Battery: 1300 Mah

Thanked 83 Times in 30 Postsit's good you made some progress on mms.
so, right now you still got receive problem, right? it's very strange. as for me, once sending works the receiving will work at the same time cuz they use the same setting.

Thanked 31 Times in 18 Posts@yunfan so you have no problem sending and receiving right? I think it's the epc and voicestream setting. I will continue testing later this week I think I have a job for the next couple of days. The sending in the widget firmware was OK I hope I will get just hard to keep track of my setting I have tried so many.

Thanked 83 Times in 30 Posts@Timsomor, no problem for me.
from my understanding about mms, if sending works the device should be ok for such a job. more tweaks needed for receiving i guess. just keep trying...

Thanked 31 Times in 18 PostsWow, got my phone to say it's was sending a MMS
I was out on a IT job today an I met a Chinese guy from Canton and I was asking him about my MMS receive problem. He listened to what I was saying and he told me to change my port setting under the MMS/GPRS setting that I had made to 9201. I had been using the 8080 setting but I have notice that it would say send failed during the day so I made his changes and this what I got:
Changed the setting to 9201 and shut down completely.
I turned the phone back on and this is an example of what I got:
I Have never seen this phone say "Sending MMS" ever since I got it. I have been using it all day sending sms and MMS I have not gotten a MMS coming into the phone yet. but I said cool the phone is now making a difference between MMS and Sms. It knows which is which, point blank!
Continued sending and sucess pic:
I said Damn! It sent that picture lighting fast......I have to see him again later in the month I will pick his brain again during that time. I wonder if I should change the edge setting in the reg? I think I will do a test with my sister's phone I will add + sign to my number and send it to my cell I forgot this firmware (0.9.3.18) needs to have that sign when calling or sending. I wonder if it works on the other end also.
@Gato58 what's up man, I am glad you have sending atleast. I think we receiving soon.
@jerrytsitas I think you should try a setting like this for your provider. I think you and yunfan share the same carrier don't give up!!!
Provider: Tmobile USA
Firmware: 0.9.3.18

Thanked 83 Times in 30 Posts@Timsomor, first congrat!
but you said you could send before.. as i said if you can send MMS(pic messages) you should be able to receive at the same time.
about the 9201 port, i can't remember where i read that but most provider should support either 8080 or 9201, maybe both. 9201 port left is for some old device compatibility. so for those who failed on MMS may try port 8080 and 9201.

Thanked 31 Times in 18 Posts@yunfan that's right you can try 8080 or 9201. However, I would suggest using the 9201 for MMS and the other with epc, sms and internet. Oh, and yes I could send before but it would always say message sent, never sending MMS. I also noticed it began to say failed on some messages I sent today. However, once I made changes all are straight sends no hangups.If you check on the net for tmobile they tell you to use epc and 8080 only but the others are also still compatible. I also saw info about a 9301 port to for tmobile.
I will continue checking and testing, to be continued.
