Opera Mini 5 beta is here, and is very close to be released as a stable version. I was wondering if anyone has tried to successfully install it. I have found references of a successful install on a Russian M8 fan site (??? ? Meizu M8 - JAVA ??? M8 - ????????? - Meizu M8 - ?????) but I don't know what firmware version it was installed on and what Opera Mini 5 beta build was used.
Official web: Opera Mini | The most popular mobile phone browser in the world
A few videos: on Youtube
Also I have found on Opera's website a reference to Meizu (Opera celebrates World Telecom Day, May 17), but it says:
"Opera has also established good partnership with local mobile-phone makers. For example, Meizu, ZTE, and Huawei already ship models with Opera Mobile preinstalled."
so I am confused, since I was sure that the M8 is shipped with Opera Mini, not Opera Mobile...

Thanked 67 Times in 32 PostsIt works, slow but works...
1) Install VM Java
Meizu Me - Downloads - JavaVM_engl
2) Download
http://m.opera.com/download-5/opera-...ismobile=false
http://m.opera.com/download-5/opera-...ismobile=false
3) Create new folder into \Disk\Programs\Tools\cykvmce\appdb\ with the name of the files that you have downloaded
4) Start VM Java and execute Opera
Nice navigator, better than Meizu's default (maybe Opera Mini 4?).

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsThanks for the reply demon__heart. Well, it looks like Meizu's JavaVM sucks... Opera mini 5 is extra fast on HTC and Sony Ericsson. I hope Meizu will have a look into it, it's gonna be a pity if M8 users would be stuck with the older version of the browser...
