Thumbs down Meizu M8, is horrible...returned it.

After having this phone for just 7 days, I realized...its not for me. It was horrible, and just seemed to look good. The fact that I had no MMS, the internet was slow, and just an overall outdated look of an iphone 2g in black. I was really disappointed with the phone, and thought it would be very impressive. But it is clearly still miles behind other phones. This is definitely NOT a smartphone, more like a dumbphone. I think that there is too much work involved, when trying to use this phone in the US. Its just not ready...

With that being said, I got a REAL smartphone. The Nexus One by Google. This phone is truly the best on the market right now, and I'm glad I was able to get my money back from this crappy meizu m8. If you are looking for a GREAT phone, get a Nexus One....

Nexus One Phone - Web meets phone..

Sorry meizu, but you had to go. I give this attempt at a phone, two thumbs down.

If you want to spend twice as much for a phone(Nexus One) that does little more than the M8 thats your choice. But as far as value for money the M8 wins hands down..You only had the M8 for 7 days,so you didnt give yourself much of a chance to learn its potential..
Now that you have got rid of your M8 i guess that means we wont be seeing you around here anymore..GOODBYE !!!

This is just a cheap and nasty way of makeing promotion of the Google phone. I pretty sure this guy never had a M8 and only wants to promote the google phone by making the M8 looking worse. Otherwise he could`nt write this kind of crap.

Well.. since the M8/se never launched is outside we really canīt complain about it, isnīt?
I do agree that m8FE isnīt that decent as an m8SE, but hey every one needs to start with something and on hardware level it is really decent like bolinao says : value for the money especially when you now that N1 cost actually about 180$ and gets sold for + 400$ ..

And ok there are still some bugs in the FW from meizu, but that is the same for N1, and honestly i think that is even worse if you keep in mind that android is widely adopted by many phone builders and is written by google them selves !

And yes the M9 should be more stylish, smaller and hopefully with a bigger screen & without the M button to let it look more sleek, this since the m8 seems a bit outdated by proportions, but it is still more nice to see compared to N1 cause the N1 looks like a sciphone/hiphone toy..

but when i put off my critic mode; i am happy you like N1 since everyone has his or here wishes. So i wish you the best with it.

    goodluck!

Very very wrong to say the M8 is a bad phone, for the money its got alot of good hardware and once the firmware is sorted it will be alot better I have had mine for 4months ish but now moved to the n1 also this week.
I will be keeping my m8 still tho

Well, iam a guy whpo alway listen music and the quality is the most important for me, and i can tell you that the M8SE is the best phone for the sound quality. there is no phone like sony ericsson our nokia or iphone that have the sound of M8SE.
Really we have until now the best sound quality on a mobile phone.

How the hell did you get your money back?!? dammit, i wish i could get my money back, i wanted the google nexus! i mean this phone's not THAT bad, but i wish i held out for the Nexus one. and i am sick and tired of checking this site for more updates for the little to no apps i use with the phone as well as the useless apps they come out with. its got good sound, and thats about it. can view pictures.

their is nothing stylish about this phone. i regret buying it aswell, but now i am stuck with it. i agree with mr_jlwilliams about the bad buy.

bought my m8 16g for about $420us and the nexus one $530 unlocked price not that big of a difference for the much better phone..

SUPERIOR in every way, check for yourself. absolutely amazing.
Nexus One Phone - Feature overview & Technical specifications
its faster, better OS more memory(up to 32GB) better video capture, better camera, has a flash, lasts long, (i cant believe they finally used the oled screen!! said to use the least amount of electricity and be brighter!) bigger battery, has GPS and MORE.
Everything about this phone is better.

and, GET THIS!!! the google phone WORKS! meziu is still "working out the kinks"... so "hands down" i think the google phone is the much better cell phone.

Well I think it is a little unfair to compare the M8 to the Nexus One. The Nexus one is a whole next generation of mobile device using the newest and most advanced components and technology currently available in the mainstream market. We are talking 1Ghz snapdragon cpu, double the ram, High res OLED display, 3G/HSDPA etc etc. It is also built by one of the leading smartphone manufacturers in the world.

It's like comparing a Nissan Micra to an aston martin, they are in a completely different league. Nowadays all top of the range smartphones coming to market have 3G which in itself requires a lot more expertise to implement into a device than a smartphone with out it, hence why it will take Meizu (a company with no experience in this area) a long time to bring a Meizu phone to market which incorporates 3G technology. HTC have been making high end smartphones with 3G for many years. They are simply a far far more advanced and experienced company when it comes to making these types of devices.

As discussed many times, fundementaly the m8's hardware is pretty solid, it just has a lot of software problems. Also compared to what is available at the top end of the market now it is dated. Although it does have some decent features it just needs a lot of refinement.

Unfortunately exported M8 pricing is also not very cheap anymore.

A much fairer comparison would be the M8 and the 1st gen iphone, but even then you are going to see far far more refiniement in the UI and OS of the iphone.

Well, I did give the phone a chance. Its not that I am trying to down the M8, but I just think it sucks really bad for use in the US. Its really overrated, and NOT worth the money. I too paid a lot for it, and I was able to get all of my money back. Thank goodness. But I was not trying to promote the N1, I was just pointing out that it is much better than this piece of crap phone...they call an M8. You are right...its not fair to compare them, because the M8 does not stand a chance...nor will the M9.

    What now?
