Finally got MMS send AND Receive

Finally after all this time I got settings correct for Vodafone UK (contract) with firmware 9.3.6 - have tried various firmware but this works with the following settings:
    GPRS
    Name: Vodafone
    APN: internet
    user name: web
    password: web
    Proxy server: 212.183.137.012

    MMS
    Name: vodafonemms
    APN: wap.vodafone.co.uk
    user name: wap
    password: wap
    Proxy server: 212.183.137.012
    Port: 80
    Server: http://mms.vodafone.co.uk/servlets/mms

For some reason the Port number works with just 80 when I had been trying the ones seen in most of the GPRS/WAP settings. I am so pleased! The MMS arrived in my inbox, clicked to download and whilst it was downloading small thin blue line appeared across screen then, there was the picture!!

No I didn't - I ended up installing XP on sun virtualbox just to back up my contacts. But still loving Linux Mint!

    that is a clever solution!

still do not have my m8 back so i havent had any chance of testing myself.
but once i do i will keep you posted!

    btw,
i think mint is the first linux os that can really atract people to move away from MS products.
If you get borred with it, i strongly suggest to try haiku.

My o2 MMS has been working fine since i got the fone except for some firmware problem's.

Last week i started to have problem's and now i cant recieve any MMS, the MMS come's from a number 820202 and alot of weird char's.

I foned o2 today and there reason was they updated there network's and my fone mustnt be supported so there's nothing they can do.

Do you think this would work with telstra to get mms too? Not the server or APN of course but maybe the registry hack?

Um, what about Ubuntu? Don't they have a bigger community, which at least make me think they attract more people from ms? I like Arch linux better though..

I must be honest, never tried Arch so will try it one of the days!
Buntu is nice and has indeed a very large community but i do think it is to commercial. The only flavor that attracts me is kubuntu but.. after so many time it still does not run properly on any of my systems.
That is where mint jumps in, it looks great and runs very stable with everything included you really want, no need for install lots of apps after the master install. And it is based on debian and a part of buntu to!

    please continu the original topic

Damn - downloading the mms seems intermittent - it keeps sticking at halfway and then starting again but doesn't download. It creates a folder in my documents but no download.!! Very frustrating
