8gb m6 out next week! (in china)

Just an FYI. I live in Shenzhen, PRC(China). Yesterday I went to one of the Meizu shops. They are now running a sale on all 4gb units for 699 yuan. AND 999 yuan for the 8gb model. However, the counter girl said that they had received some, but had some technical issues with the player(most likely the memory) and said that she was informed that next week they would be receiving the updated units. She verified that nothing besides the memory has changed in the units. I did go ahead and pick up a 4gb model, which had the newest firmware and a solid black back instead of chrome(the black model of course!) Hope this means you guys back west will be getting these within a month or so if they hit the boat next week!

THATS CHEAP. i bought mine 4GB for 1100 yuen months before. pricedrop is huge.

    999 Yuen = $130
    699 Yuen = $90

Compare this store-price with the online-price on miniplayer.info... almost the half!

Solid black is a version with an aluminium black, just like some motorola phones. but it is thicker and has a very solid construction like the original m6.

I measure 10.25mm total thickness with my black metal back version. I have the included clear protector on the front and back, so it still hangs at the 10mm spot.

If I order one of these 8gb ones would it come with an English option on it?

if so: where can I order one?

if not: about how long should I expect to wait until an English version comes out?

Thanks for the info,i want to buy an 8G Miniplayer soon, any chance of sending some to the members here if they pay you the price plus postage? or do you know of any online retailers in china you can recommend. I have bought 2 miniplayer of ebay and both sellers were unregistered in a few weeks after buying. Very suspect of buying miniplayer of ebay now, looking to buy direct from china buy need some one I can trust.

It is possible for me to do it. I guess it depends on how many. I don't want to piss off the distribution guys either! PM me and I will find out. If it's only say a couple I don't think that should be a problem.

Well the hardware are supposed to be same, but when i compared the screen on a 4GB with a 8GB i noticed that the screen on the 8GB was slightly brighter and the white color was more white compared to the 4GB.

I did this test on two units only by setting the brightness to max and loading the preloaded images. Ill get beck to you with some photos later.

btw. I dont know about Zhongshan, but in Guangdong the 8GB is available for over a week, no reports about technical issues with the units being sold here.

OMG! $130 for an 8GB M6?! I have been looking at Meizu and have been wanting to get an M6 but heard of the 8GB coming out and its finally here. Man, wish someone from here living in China could send me one, how much would shipping to Texas USA cost?

I just want everyone to know.....I don't mind helping out. But, there are distributors and online retailers. Sure it's cheaper in China. Because this is where it is made and was it's original market. Your western channels for buying Meizus are not making huge money off you. But consider they have to pay the freight and duty, which in my experience is about 7%-15% per piece. Then add in the fact that they must then make their margin to stay in business. Looking at the numbers, your retailers are not making huge money of these sales and the volume is not gigantic for them. I know we would all like to save a few bucks if possible, but I would more be willing to do this if these channels were not suppling a good service for you or did not stock a particular item you are wanting. Shipping from China, I must follow strict rules as well, calling these samples units or personal effects. Otherwise, they will intercept these items and we are both out of luck! Not to mention that the price would be about $20-$30 usd. just for the shipping.

Support the retailers, especially small retailers. Is an extra $20 going to kill you?

I hear that...shipping costs are super high and they wont just let you ship anything out of China..
I dont think retailers here make that much on their meizu sales either due too the extar costs they have.. they arent ripping you off i think... they just have more costs

As a retailer, I can guarantee you that we aren't making much on the players. Because of Meizu's pricing in China, I know my own sales have dropped by 50% as eBay has been flooded with Chinese sellers. As a word of caution, there are obviously legitimate eBay sellers, and those trying to make a quick buck who will be gone tomorrow.

Also, the pricing that Dane-Elec receives from Meizu is actually higher than what the retail prices are in China. So obviously as it moves down the sales channel the price disparity increases. But, one more thing to note, for warranty purposes just the cost of sending a player back to China for replacement may be more than what you initially saved. And, if your seller does go poof, as I've seen at least 2 eBay sellers do in this past week alone, you're the one who loses.

Finally, a note on the U.S. release of the 8GB M6. We are still waiting on the release date from Dane-Elec. They have received pricing from Meizu (which they are not happy with as it is again higher than what the retail price is in China), so it appears that production may be forthcoming. Hopefully I will have more information on Friday.

Just received a sample of the new 8GB M6 from Meizu yesterday and it is very nice to have the extra 4GB of capacity. In other good news, you'll all have a respected U.S. retailer entering the fray here in another day or so... ;-)

I am a college student so any money that I can save will help me, but I am going to have to wait a long time now for this because my computer just died. Thanks to this little program called Bootski.....EDIT: Ok, PC fixed once again! :D

So, where would I find another 8GB M6 for only $20 more than China? I have only seen them for $200 not counting shipping.
