Warning: All Meizu M6 SP Users
Warning!! Never switch on the Hold Switch while your player is off. I made the terrible mistake of switching on the Hold Switch while I was polishing my player's screen yesterday (didn't want the thing to keep turning on while I was working on it). Even with the Hold Switch on, the player somehow magically started formatting itself. I thought "no big deal, just put the resource.bin back in, and re-load my songs" boy was I wrong. After the "Format" the player was completely unresponsive, although it did still have the screen flash. DFU did it no good, my computer was not able to write to it at all. I don't know if this applies to SL, TP, and T1 players, but just as a precaution, only use the Hold Switch while the player is on. Several other members on the forum also had the same problem, but no one has been able to pinpoint why their players mysteriously died in their pockets. Now I know why, and I hope nobody else makes the mistake.
If you are having trouble with your player, please visit this thread first and try the steps before you panic. Most likely you will be able to fix your player easily using the steps listed.

Thanked 19 Times in 19 PostsThanks but weird, I can't really imaging what really went wrong to it. You polished your player with what? Don't sounds like you used a cloth.

I never had this on any of my SP's.
I do not use the hold button a lot though. I mostly like you only lock it when the player needs new protective film or I put on the crystal case.
In fact, a hold button is made for avoid unwanted operation whatever the player is on or off. Bring out such warning don't make that sense.
A possible solution from me would be doing a soft reset procedure before you connect the player the your PC and use DFU tools. If the screen making the flash it normally do it shouln't be totally dead after all.
This usually help the computer recognize the player again in my few cases my player wouldn't boot up. Worth a try it if you haven't yet.

The Hold Switch won't prevent you from accidentally formatting the player (i've once tested it out of curiosity), but it should be the same as if you'd format without it. I could reload the firmware without a problem, so something must have gone wrong when you did it (hopefully no hardware defect).

I was sure the Hold Switch was on. The player usually would just say "Locked...Shutting down", but in my case, it did that one or two times, and then the third time, it didn't show the locked message, it went straight to the pink formatting screen. However after the format, the thing completely died. I have tried Soft resets, DFU, etc. I'll try shorting the battery tonight, or just outright de-soldering it. See if it can be revived.

Thanked 19 Times in 19 PostsPink formatting screen? That screen should yellow as far as I remember the color I get.
Anyways, mbarry better be extra careful on the two s-flex cables inside. One wrong touch and you bring the player into more serious trouble (If it can be any worse). Unfortunately this happen to mine = no good.
Good luck!

I've opened tons of iPods before
I know how easily static, or a thin ribbon can break the whole thing.
I was thinking that too. I had formatted my player once before, but I don't remember a pink screen...If you are having trouble with your player, please visit this thread first and try the steps before you panic. Most likely you will be able to fix your player easily using the steps listed.
