Device does not appear in my computer

I'm trying to install the Meizu M6 SL for the first time on XP. I have turned the player on and plugged the usb in. I then get the message that the device is not recognized and has malfunctioned. It also does not appear in my computer. The device is working perfectly fine, however I cannot add any songs!

Just wondering if there is anyway around this?

First, try a USB port in the back of your computer, if it is a desktop. If you have a Laptop, or if the previous step didn't work, reboot your computer. If that doesn't work, try to get to a friend's or a library's computer. See if that works, if not, try to get an exchange. Hope this helps.
