Can`t see files in any folder!

Hi, there is one thing really bothering me about the M6:

I have files (like audiobooks) in folders (inside the MUSIC folder) and a lot of files just in the MUSIC folder. I usually go for Shuffle/random-Play ALL, but sometimes I would like to listen to something in the audiobook-folders. So I use the browser to choose a audiobook-file but there are no files at all listed in the audiobook-folders.

BUT:I can see them when the player is connected to the computer AND I can hear them when I accidently get one during my Shuffle/Random-Play.

    Whats wrong?

    Help me!

Cheers and all the best (and happy New Year!! :-)

are they all mp3? if so you might need to edit the id3 tags or at least fill some of them in. i'll assume windows, right click the file / select properties / choose advanced. send it to the player it should update. then browse by artist / album etc (whatever you put in should show up) common problem is naming conventions often the mp3 is named: artist.album.songname in just the filename which has little to do with how the M6 "sees" what's loaded on it.

and happy new year to you!

Try doing a Library Update as Fral mentioned, but there is a Update Music Library function on the player itself.
If you are having trouble with your player, please visit this thread first and try the steps before you panic. Most likely you will be able to fix your player easily using the steps listed.

@ri_toast:i could do that and would be able to better find the files in the Music browser, which would be the last option cause it would take a lot more searching than just go into the folder and choose one of the files...

and yes: they are all MP3s.

And one time, just one tiny little time I was able to see the files in the folders...but than never again.....freakin weird :-))

ok, well this is something i don't understand. i maybe have used the browser twice maybe three times. i just make sure the tags are all filled in and select from the music/artist/album. it just takes too much time to get to the browser, when i do get there it's just to delete. i mainly listen to complete albums.

Maybe there are too many files? Or their names more than 50 symbols?

I was able to see the files in the actual folders. Huuurray! I have no idea what exactly brought them back.....

And just to check if it is a one time-thing again, I connected the player to the computer and added some files into the main music folder.

Now I have a new (another) problem: after disconnecting the player it always freezes at "Update Music Library" and it still says "Connected to USB" but the buttons do make that "peep"-noise when touched..but nothing happens... I gotta open a new post, I guess.....

Don't worry, just leave your player on a table for 10 minutes and it should be set. Sometimes the Update Music Library takes a long time and seems to be stuck while it really isn't.

after formatting and putting on new files for the test it froze again at "Update Music Library", I shut it down with the enter-button and now it freezes at "Update Music Library" except that the language is Chinese.

Is there a hidden camera in my room?

Try to format your player, install firmware, than disconnect it from computer, then put some mp3s to main MUSIC folder and disconnect from PC. If there won't freeze after that put some more files. Maybe there is too much files in one folder... And try to install another firmware.
P.S. Sorry for my bad English

run this file checker on your audio files. a bad file will hang a player. fral is right, get everything off and try some known good files.

@fral: I`m doing what you told me right now... I now have a some folders only with some files in it...... : and after a 15min Update Music Library I´m able to see all the files and play all the files!!

But (and I`m not kidding) now the player does an Music Library Update everytime I switch on the player (without even connecting it to the computer)... and that freakin Update is like 20minutes long.

Is it appropriate to just sit in a corner and cry the rest of the day?

you can fix sync problems with foobar 2000 which btw is a very good player. highlight the files that are broken, right click should be a fix menu.

update should be around 2 mins max and not everytime, only when something changed. is it possible you have mixed up firmware?

i use 2004.4, be sure you have sl firmware for an sl player.

Get the latest firmware* here , format the player, reload the firmware and place your audio files and folders under the music directory.

If the problem still occurs there might be something wrong with one or more of your files.

If your player is the SP model and you want to try an older FW with less update issues, take the 2.003.2 version.

*There are two versions of FW 2.004.6 - Meizu offers the newer one.

Huuuuurrrray! I completly formated the player again and put in the firmware 2.004.4 SP (I might have sabotaged myself along the way with installing SL at one place, maybe...I`m not sure)

And now its fast, I can see my files and I won`t return the player and buy an ipod like every one else does cause I hate iPods..no! I keep my Meizu thanks to you guys (and girls, I don`t know)

    Cheers
