Thanks MBArry. I really don't know whats wrong believe me when I tell you I hold the buttons for quite sometime, understanding the pc needs to recognize the device. All I do get is a white flicker of a flash when holding down the on/off and M at the same time just like you mentioned. I tried a few times and all I get is the sound the pc makes when a device is connected or disconnected. I am running on Windows XP pro

    BTW

I will definitely log on by 11 am. I think this maybe my last attempt before I have to trash it.

it won't even detect as a hardware device any longer after the DFU failure!

i've taken it apart using the guide to no green screen. hopefully this works! :-(

stupid mac broke my player! i plugged it in...didn't work correct after that. just froze on the meizu screen...and now this!

got DFU running, but really? how long does this take...its been 6 minutes and my fingers are hurting, and its stuck at 5-10%

tried 5 times...gets stuck at "Downloading image 1..." Image 2 progress bar at 5% then application stops responding.

figured out what the issue was. the computer i was using for some reason wasn't allowing the firmware write to work correctly.

i have jumped onto my personal laptop and it can write correctly. only issue is that after the write process is complete my M6sp won't load or show the green resource screen.

i'm going to play around with it a little more but i think its pretty much bricked for good.

the write process takes no more than 1 minute btw

    wow i love you guys!

i should not have opened up my M6 though. it was un-necessary and probabaly caused me to have more issues.

what i have learned is...as long as your screen CAN flash for that second when you press power, AND is detectable AT ALL when connected through USB and holding power and M YOU CAN FIX IT!

it took me maybe 10 tries with different firmware files, but the default included firmware worked to get this going.

    THANKS EVERYBODY!

No probelm, glad we could help! I remember the last time I DFU'ed my player, it took a whopping 29 tries before it worked.

Likewise thanks guys! Just took me about 45 minutes of playing around and now everythings peachy.

My personal lesson was: DFU doesn't work properly on Vista, I got consistent repeatable error messages of "Can't communicate with device". Tried my XP and it worked flawlessly. So if you are getting stuck with the DFU update, trying different OSes/machines might be worth a shot.

As long as it is recognized as DFU I think you have a chance at fixing it.

---Now Hold down the M and Power buttons simultaneously. Do NOT let go of them until I tell you, if you do you will permanently brick your player, although if you do accidentally let go, here is an absolute last resort option, although I have not tried it before:http://www.meizume.com/miniplayer-m6...en-screen.html. Look at the P.S. of the first post. Keep those buttons held down tightly, and plug your player into your computer. You player should be recognized as a DFU Device.

i am doing that but i got one little problem, it doesn't work for me?

    please help,

    thanks

Thanks so much for this! I thought the little thing was a goner, but your instructions - especially the need for patience - got me through and it's working just fine. Thanks again.

Can you elaborate on your problem please? Are you sure you are holding the M and Power buttons down throughout the whole process? You cannot let either of them go. What is wrong with your player in the first place? If it can still be normally seen in My Computer, just get new firmware and put it into your player's drive in my computer.

well it doesn't recognize it in My Computer, i've let it charge 2 whole nights but it still didn't work, it even doesn't show that it's charging so i suppose i got the problem from step 3....

    thanks in advance

Try holding down the M and Power buttons. Do Not let them go. While you are holding them down, plug your player in without letting either button go. Keep on holding them and it should be recognized as a DFU Server. What type of player do you have? (Look on the back and type your serial number if you do not know). Sorry it took so long to respond.

Where you edited it, it's not a direct link to the resource page, it's actually a direct link to your post saying "Nice Job"

That links to the resource page again, I'm not sure what the original was so I can't fix it.
