yes, I decode the source with DirectShow. If you set dsdecode to no, it would use MEncoder directly. This created choppy playback on my system, so I tried it with DS and voila. If it runs for you directly with MEncoder, even better for you.
I assume your problem is solved then ?

in a way yes , but in fact no

that is , I would hope that what works the same here ( your place) would work there ( my place) , now alas we know that this is not always some rule with apps

and what puzzles me the most is that a very simple, clear, effective DS Show filter path , that works 100% , would suddenly flip its image upside down due to some sudden mistery ...

you get my point, if it's not DS there it is more probably the way Batman build a 'correct' Graph filter here ; indeed I do not mean Batman "per se" , since it mainly calls other apps, filters, etc..

I had found some similar problem with (the way Batman patches)DS for Quicktime .mov files in the past, if you remember ; producing similar image flip problems, ; the thread is possibly still somewhere deep in this forum ...

it would be nice in the end if Batman could deal correctly with many file formats , including MP4/MOV/FLV , directly through DS; for instance, why do you keep flv2avi since there is a (ffdshow) DS for it ? (simply a question , btw )

    - I have no idea why it flips the picture upside down on your PC. I adviced you to try it first on another machine, but you didn't give any feedback to that. I cannot reproduce that behaviour, and therefore cannot tell you anything useful about it.
    - I remember some similiar problem with .mov, yes. But same thing : it worked fine on my PC.
    - flv2avi.exe is included within an optional plugin for BatMan. MEncoder can handle flv on its own, but - though it works alright - there were occasional a/v sync problems with some files. flv2avi is simply a bit more reliable. The DirectShow way wouldn't work when I last tried it (03/2008). The reason for that is a bit complex, but it has something to do with the fact that MEncoder's AviSynth interface doesn't support sound, so I had to use an external sound decoder which is avs2wav - unfortunately that thingy was developed in a time where flv was not yet popular, so it doesn't work.
What can I say .. video conversion is difficult, and BatMan is just an overgrown control script, maybe comparable to AutoGordianKnot (the developers of AutoGK may forgive my impertinence ..)

I get your point , but actually it is some hasard I am back at Batman ( nice app ,even we had some arguments sometimes , lol )

so if I can double check , I will ; still I would say I have really bad luck as...

    >>- I remember some similiar problem with .mov, yes. But same thing : it worked fine on my PC.

yes , but I had a different machine at that time ! and if you can find back the thread (?) , I can remember you did some modifications which ended in... clockwise rotation , but still upside down ! now great, if it is fixed today

and BTW there is a 'straight' DS filter for FLV which looks to be (embeded) in flvDX.dll ; maybe you can have a look...

if I have some news on this .MP4 enigma , I'll report back. But please note again I just posted a screen where the DS for it does not rotate the image , so... I would say that if it then does come to rotate , it can't be the DS fault, but more possibly the way its graph path is built (?)

but promise, I'll double check as soon as I can
