Finally had enough of the m6 and got a sony mp3 player and first impressions of the unit are so much better that the m6
The sound quality is better and finally no waiting 20mins for it to update the libary, just wish i got one to start with....

If you don't throw/give away your M6 you could try rockbox on it when the port is finished and let us know how it compares to the Sony. Which model M6 do you have?

Yeah can give it a try its just sitting around not doing alot, i have the sl i think its the slim version by dan elec

What makes you think that ? The only thing that never bothered me with the M6 was its good sound

The mid range is alot better imo, the m6 always seems a bit messy in that area to me.
Still the m6 was a very good sounding player better than the ipod and creative zen that i have heard.

sorry to hear your not happy with the m6, personally i think mine has better sound than my harmon kardon reciever...the hk has optical inputs and is connected to a mistique sound card in the 'puter.
still, we all want to know which sony? give us a hint?

The M6 is a good sounding player still, it just let me down with the amount of software issues mainly
