Maybe the battery still has charge, but it just shows empty. If that is the case, them maybe a firmware change would fix this.

I remember someone who was telling the same problem. After a FW update, it was gone.

Take a look at the Lithium Battery FAQ & Care Tips thread. Have you been repeatedly using the battery until it was dead then charge? That is very bad for Lithuum batteries. You should always charge it whenever you have a chance, even if the battery is 90% full.
If you are having trouble with your player, please visit this thread first and try the steps before you panic. Most likely you will be able to fix your player easily using the steps listed.
Players: Meizu M6 SP 4GB, iPod Touch 4G
Headphones: SoundMAGIC PL-50s, Auvio In-Ear Armatures, Bose QC-15s.
Current Audio Congifuration: X-Fi Elite Pro w/LM4562 Mod -> Mission MS-50 + Boston Acoustics Subwoofer

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsYes, I have.
I have the latest firmware so should i change to an older one?
Btw: isnt that how most people charge their mp3 players and all? From now on I'll charge earlier but it sucks because I always listen to it untill it shuts down, just do so as it is empty so quick

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsThe battery wasn't dead ... the player will shut down before that moment.
Just copy a firmware (even the one, which is already on your player) on your player and it will be fine. No need to downgrade.

You can't do that, at least the last time I checked. I think that feature may be implemented on a future firmware, hopefully the M6 firmware that comes out after the M8.

Yes, the battery will charge when you listen, or watch movies. From now on, just charge the battery whenevr you can, do not wait until it is dead. Is your firmware the most recent one? What model player do you have?

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsThe player will charge while playing if the data wires aren't connected....
try inserting the USB cable half way (hard)
getting a USB wall wart transformer (I have one, that's why I know)
or getting a new usb mini cable and cutting the data lines, or if you use the usb ports on the front of your computer, you can go inside and disconnect the data lines from the usb header cable.
oh, and btw, even when the player says charged, it's probably still charging. I've found that the firmware doesn't exactly communicate well with the power circuits.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsActually mbarry, according to the Wikipedia article on LiIon batteries, your advice is the opposite of what someone should do. LiIon batteries lose their capacity faster the more power is in them. The ideal way to store them is at 0 degrees celsius with 40% charge.
A LiIon stored at 25C with 100% charge will lose 20% capacity every year. Stored with 40% charge it loses 6% capacity.
Fully discharging the battery is only problematic if it runs down after you finish using it. The battery circuit won't let you ACTUALLY 100% discharge the battery because emptying a LiIon battery can damage it. It can get too discharged if you use it up and then leave it on a shelf for a while - the battery monitoring circuit finishes off the last bit of charge. That's why you keep it at 40% and not zero.
Anyways, read the wikipedia page: Lithium-ion battery - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
