New M6 did not work

My PC (tried a Vista and XP pc) did not see the M6 when I connected it. After reading some of the posts I formatted the player by pressing power and M and after the format my PC saw the M6 !

Was very glad that it finally detected it, but that did not last long :-S. I got a green screen and I thought ok so I need to install the firmware again...so I did. Copied the 2 files to the root directory and closed and disconnected the M6 and restarted it, but it does not upgrade or install the firmware. Just get the message on a green screen : "No resource ! Upgrade Resource again".

What might I be doing wrong ? I am already happy that I have gotten so far without returning that thing :-)

Hope you have any tips to let me finally use it ...I hear the sound is great and what I have seen so far from the display it looks userfriendly.

Thanks !
Miranda

Hi Miranda, and welcome to MeizuMe.

First let me tell you that what you are describing with the green screen is not an abnormal behavior, so you can put your heart at ease. This happens because after a low level formatting, your player needs a new resource file (which contains the graphics, languages, etc.). So you only need to put the resource file "resource.bin" in there, not the two of them. The process is simple, and the same as changing the M6 skin. The tricky part is that the resource file must match the version of you player (although the last 3 versions were all compatible), otherwise it might not work and you will need to try with another one.

Second.. when you say that your computer could not detect the M6, did you turn your M6 on before connecting it? That is necessary, otherwise it will only charge the battery instead of being detected as a mass storage device (this is also normal behavior). For troubleshooting, there's a nice FAQ here at MeizuMe which you might find useful.

Good luck!
