Browser not showing all files
I usually play my songs via the browser since I can simply select a folder and select "Play" which will play all songs in that folder and all songs in each sub folder.
However, I recently went into a folder to play some songs but it showed the folder as being empty.
I connected the miniplayer to the computer and verified the songs were actually there. I also verified they played correctly using windows media player.
I then proceeded to remove them from the miniplayer, update the music library, then re-copy them to the miniplayer and update the music library again. I can even see the re-copied songs being added to the music library towards the end.
I also tried resetting the player by holding down the "Enter" key.
However, the folder still shows empty via the browser.
Any suggestions? Is there something wierd where it will ignore the whole folder if there is a special unrecognized charachter in one of the file names? Don't see how this would matter since I didn't change anything before this happened. If it aint broke, don't fix it.

Ok. Now I am really confused. I backed everything up then did a complete reformat. After recopying everything back to the miniplayer, the same folder will not display the mp3 files that are in it. Other folders show the songs just fine.
This reminds me of a Chinese made USB disk I purchased to backup my website files. Everytime I created a folder called "Website" it filled it with a bunch of garbage files. Only when I created the folder with that name. Not any other name. Though I didn't feel like going through the dictionary to find out what other names would cause this strange behavior. When I tried to delete the website folder it would say it can not be found. Sigh... I ended up tossing it in the trash and buying a Sandisk. If it aint broke, don't fix it.

I figured it out. Though my confusion continues.
If the folder contains a subfolder(s) with music files in them then it skips those files. It will only see music files in the first folder of the MUSIC folder.
The confusing part is this did not happen until recently. I have always had those music files in subfolders and played them with no problem.
I thought an upgrade to version 2.004.6 might fix it. So much for thinking...If it aint broke, don't fix it.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsWell, that's kind of strange. My general organization on my M6 goes like:
Music\Artists\Albums\songs.whatever.
It all works for me. Can you check the extension the song files have? Maybe you've put unsupported types in it. Otherwise, you could try converting your songs to a different format out of testing purposes. Wonder if those will work.

Chinese technology?
The firmware in this player is not stable and produces inconsistent results. For this problem I simply removed everything and copied it back to the player. No reformat should be needed. Then again it shouldn't all of a sudden stop displaying files for no reason.
I often get this problem with my pictures folder, which does contain several images. Despite that fact, it should not be unable to show them after starting the player one time, then be unable to show them on another day.If it aint broke, don't fix it.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 Postsis it possible that along with say; mp3s you also have jpgs or m3u files in those folders?
if you browse to music/artist or album can you play them from there?
there are players that have a cap on the number of files the player will read ie: 4000 or maybe even 2000.
i don't know if the meizu is capped and i see others have made the same comments above, so, never mind.Last edited by ri_toast; 02-22-2009 at 10:55 AM.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI tried doing this but the results stay the same. From a particular point in the file system no files are shown. This is annoying as it imposes another limitation like the 2048 file bug. I hope this gets fixed at some point...The firmware in this player is not stable and produces inconsistent results. For this problem I simply removed everything and copied it back to the player. No reformat should be needed. Then again it shouldn't all of a sudden stop displaying files for no reason.
