    Definitive Technical Advice for M6SL

    Hi all,

My three kids and I have 8Gb M6SL players and love them. One of their players died...no matter what buttons you pressed for how long, you ended up on a blank screen with a white rectangle on it. It still connected to the USB port ok.

I tried all the advice I could find in these forums. I upgraded to the latest firmware...no change. I tried high, then low level formats, but holding the buttons as described had no effect at all. I finally found a copy of DFU tools (another nightmare in itself), but the described button press does not set my player up as DFU Server.

In desperation, I tried a format to FAT32 under Windows XP, then reloaded the latest firmware. To my surprise, it started working again! I can load and listen to music.

Problem, none of the special button combinations work. I cannot high or low level format, nor can I set it up as a DSU server. I believe I need to reset the player with the DSU tool to fix these low-level problems.

I did find that if I plugged the (switched off) player into the USB port so it started charging, then pressed the correct keys, Windows recognised a new device. Unfortunately, the drivers which were placed in the DSU install directory don't work, thus I can go no further.

I notice also, when following the istructions to run DSU, it does not recognise the M6SL.ebn file. It is looking for a M6.ebn file.

I have done a lot of searching and reading. There seems to be a shortage of definitive, specific technical advice on the M6SL. I wonder if someone out there can PLEASE answer the following questions for me:
    1. Are the button combinations described in other posts for high-level format, low-level format and DSU server valid for the M6SL?
    2. Where can I find the latest version of DSU Tools, which is compatible with the M6SL...or do I just rename M6SL.ebn to M6.ebn?
    3. Where can I find the Windows XP drivers for the DSU Server setup of the M6SL?
    4. Any other specific technical advice relating to the M6SL?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes the button combinations do work, you probably held them down for too short of a period of time, or you held down the wrong buttons. Additionally, you have to use the M6SL DFU tools, not the normal M6 DFU.
If you are having trouble with your player, please visit this thread first and try the steps before you panic. Most likely you will be able to fix your player easily using the steps listed.

Players: Meizu M6 SP 4GB, iPod Touch 4G
Headphones: SoundMAGIC PL-50s, Auvio In-Ear Armatures, Bose QC-15s.
Current Audio Congifuration: X-Fi Elite Pro w/LM4562 Mod -> Mission MS-50 + Boston Acoustics Subwoofer

Good to know. It seems that most problems with meizu players are possible to fix, there are just so many methods to choose, and most of the time only one of them works for the specific problem.
