    Worn out headphone jack

As most people probably do, I keep my Dane-Elec Meizu M6 in my pocket with my earphones wrapped around it. With the earphone plug sticking out of the player like a sore thumb (which I guess happens with all players), its probably been torqued around.

Now, sound only comes through when I put some pressure on the earphones in a certain direction, or let it sit on the table where "pocket-pressure" won't disconnect the leads.

Is this something I could fix myself (I'm more of a software guy than a hardware guy, though willing to try)? Or is this something I would have to call Dane-Elec for (who have NEVER answered or returned my calls)?

This is basically the way all of my pre-Meizu players have died. I'm not sure this could be classified as a quality problem and therefore also unsure whether it's Dane-Elec's responsibility to fix it.
Can't wait to play with the Meizu MX!

It should be covered under warranty, as long as you have it.

Unless you physically broke the cable inside, that's a mechanical damage.

if you're out of warranty, open the player and resolder the headphone connector. Because that's probably gotten loose. Have a look at this tread where Madman fixes his powerbutton.

    Try another pair of headphones.

it's definitely not the headphones, I've tried other working pairs.

Has anyone had any luck getting Dane Elec to fix anything?

Did you buy it directly from Dane-Elec, or a retailer like Walgreens? You should send it back to your retailer.

through buy.com, but they only tell me to go through Dane-Elec regardless of whether or not Dane-Elec responds; stupid, i know

Fortunately I got an extended warranty that kicks in after the Dane-Elec warranty expires, whereupon buy.com will replace the player. It's only a 4 months away, I can probably deal. Just wanted to know if there was some sort of quick fix

I had exactly the same problem, although only with the right audio channel. I RMA'd my M6SL, and Dane-Elec sent me a new one.
