M6 vs iTouch img size display : quite close !

ever wondered how your Meizu M6 image size can look *as for possible image size aspect* when compared to a 3.5" screen such as the Ipod Touch for instance

well it happens that when you encode in 368><208 mode for the Sony PSP (just a 'basic' normal 16/9 ratio encode res' for this item ) you end with a video that is just almost the full screen size of the iPod Touch (75mm><50 ; since it is 480*360)

the pictures in the archive are a bit smaller 72><41mm ; but this gives anyway a rather very close idea though

that is it has been croped from 1920><1080 to 1440><1080 for the Meizu M6 , before being scaled to 320*240 ; while indeed the (PSP ) 'iTouch" movie has been simply scaled , so it keeps full image informations

this shows that such poor man's telecine pan&scan is adequate to provide with characters (actors) that are just about the same size on the M6 as with an iTouch ! indeed some lateral informations are lost , but it may still be acceptable to many

please don't give any attention to the image quality here , they are quite good on the M6 , even more crisp and detailed ; the color range is even surprising too given the large difference from 65k (m6) to 16M (psp) difference here ; Meizu has managed to boost his rather cheap screen so that to provide a really punchy/flashy video pleasing rendering ; quite a feat for such a basic 65k color cell phone type screen

"boosting" even up to the point where encoding for the M6 can become a problem in dark areas , since it raises obvious clouding , and more generally color banding ! But with some tweak on M6 screen 'luma' this can be minimized (and trying the more appropriate firmware for the 'hardware' screen your M6 got from Samsung ; since it also looks like no screen was manufactured "equal" all the time)

only the M6 very narrow viewing angle cannot be changed at all ; possibly the weakest point imho , with the anemic QVGA chip while it is okay if you keep bit rate reasonable

so here is an archive with 10 pictures , taken all along this 10 minute movie. Please forgive the very poor image shooting, anyway it is not of such big interest for what was looked after

indeed keeping a rather confortable 'center-of-screen' image size on M6 screen becomes much more of a problem with 2:35 films :/
