Hi everyone.
Thinking about buying an M6, it looks good. I currently own a Samsung YP-T9 player, which despite getting good reviews I now really hate since you are forced to use Samsung's own software (which is Windows only, and not very good), and I could never work out how to get playlists to work. So I'm looking for a simple player that I don't have to use over-complicated software to transfer files to (I want to just transfer files to it like a flash drive, or use whatever software I like), that's the main priority for me.
What I'm asking is, based on what I said, do you think the Meizu M6 is the right player for me? I also want to know how easy it is to transfer playlists (for instance if I have them in m3u format) to the M6. Ogg Vorbis support is a must for me, it is listed in the specifications here, does it work well?
One more question! Another important thing is that I am using Ubuntu Linux. It should theoretically work, but before I go ahead and buy an M6 I want to know if any of you are successfully using it with Linux. Will I encounter any problems?
Thanks.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsSounds like a good player for you. I'm using my M6 under Leopard which is basically Linux as you will know. The player is simply mounted as a mobile flashdisk. I'm not really using playlists so maybe someone else can tell you. OGG works fine but there are problems with stuttering every MEIZU owner will encounter atm (with certain encoders). Just use the forum search and you will see. If after all of that you really want an incredible sound M6 is just right for you.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsAlso from what I've seen there is a large viraty of programs you can use to encode video clips. And they are very good.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsThanks. Is it worth getting the SL version? I'm finding the SL very difficult to find where I am (UK) other than on ebay, which I don't really want to use for something like this. I'm thinking of getting just the standard version.
Am I right in assuming the stuttering issue is only minor? I haven't read about it in any reviews.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI've only had a couple songs with the stuttering. I think it is a matter of corrupted files, more than anything, tbh.
The M6 does support ogg, I have successfully used it with up to Q9, Haven't tried q10 yet.
I also think that if you are going to buy an SP version, buy all the accessories that you think you might want, this is a discontinued model now, so accessories will likely become scarce.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsFrom looking around the SP version is the version that everyone is selling, the SL is nowhere.I also think that if you are going to buy an SP version, buy all the accessories that you think you might want, this is a discontinued model now, so accessories will likely become scarce.
What about the specs of the SL version, it's smaller but is there anything else different (added or removed)?

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsThe Meizu is a great player. You just drag and drop files to it to get it to work. I'm 90% sure Ogg Vorbis is surported because my player came preloaded with some music that I think was ogg vorbis (or maybe it was flac). The only real issue is video conversion but as your a linux user you shouldn't have any troubles (I assume your a pretty computer savy person). I don't know about compatability though)
Hope this helps!Meizu M6 Miniplayer

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI guess that depends on where you are buying. All the places I checked that had it, were selling the SP versions cheaper... Until they ran out and only have the SL version now.
I have an SP, and like it. I have just noticed that as places stop carrying the SP, the accessories (such as cases, which there never seemed to be all that much available anyway) seem to be becoming more scarce. I bought 4 black silicone cases from JTC, as he seems to have the nicest looking ones (I figured that at $.99 each it was a good idea, and these should keep me until I get another player). Don't know if he still has any.
From what I have read others post, the SL apparently has a different audio chip in it, and subsequently needs different firmware. I haven't seen any head to head comparisons.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsIve got the SL and I bought it from ebay, its great. I use windows media player to put songs on and drag and drop for videos, you can use itunes if you download a mod. Video conversion is easy depending on what software you use, and the SL is easy to get accesories for, ebay is great for them.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI just bought it. It was a choice of either this, a Cowon D2 or an iRiver Clix 2. The M6 was £60 cheaper than the others and does exactly what I want, so I saved some money and so far (I've had it for an hour) I'm not disappointed. Works in Linux and plays Ogg files perfectly and I have not encountered any of the problems with stuttering yet.
To mutescream and jackdoor, it turns out that the SL isn't out here. The few places that sell Meizu products sell the standard version.
I have one "noob" question that I hope someone will answer. When you play a video how do you return back to the menu? The only way I can see is by watching it to the end and waiting for it to return automatically.Last edited by SegaFan; 02-18-2008 at 11:55 AM.
