I've had my meizu m6 for a while now, 1-2 years.
I was playing a song (and unwittingly) plugged the usb into my m6 while was still playing the song. then it died. the screen is dark, touch pad has no effect, resetting/formatting doesn't work. i tried dfu tools, does not work. the computer still recognizes it as something, and i'm still able to access the folders (music, video, system, etc) on the player. i have to say my patience with meizu is running short.

DFU sometimes takes multiple tries to work correctly. I've had to repeat the process as many as 15 - 20 times to recover players. But, they usually are recoverable, especially if your computer still recognizes it.
I'd try DFU again and see where you get. Otherwise, you may want to reformat the player using Windows, but I don't recommend it.

Since you can see the player and the folders, I'd try to reinstall the firmware before doing any formatting.
Simply drag and drop the two firmware files (M6.ebn and resource.bin) right into directory that you have the screen shot of. Don't put the files into the folders, just add them to the directory next to MUSIC, VIDEO, Etc. Make sure that you use the correct files for your version, whether it's a TP or SP. You can find the firmware and instructions in the FAQ section.
Also, from what has been posted, and my limited experience with Vista, you don't need the DFU tools. DFU is only used if you CAN'T get the computer to recognize the player. But, you don't have that problem, and Vista can recognize DFU devices without the program.
If you needed to reformat with Windows, you just right click the drive folder and you should see an option for Format.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsOr I think if you hold down the FF (Fast forward/skip track) key for around 10 secs or longer it resets it to factory defaults or so. Not sure if that's for SL or SP or both.
