Why SL always updating library after unplugging?

So far, my SL updates the music library most every time I unplug it from the wall charger or even the computer, when I plug it in just for charging. I eon't power cycle it. I just have it off and plug it in. When I turn it back on, it takes its typical forever time to update the library.

Even when I just mount it to copy files off of it, it does that as well - no changes to the library.

How can I avoid this? That only thing more annoying than this with the SL is the STUPID crazy wait time for a typical custom playlist to load - I'd STILL like some fix for that.

    thanks,
    Chris

thats how it is. its annoying i know.

anyways, there's a fix i got from bobbyQ. its name is noindex. if the m6 is detected as an removable disk and no changes has been made then it wont update.

Unzip and place the following .exe in your Meizu's root folder and run it each time after you have copied new files to it. It will reset any "archive" attributes it finds in the folder and subfolders it is placed. Once you have no files with a set archive bit, there will be one update process to include the new files, and then never again (especially not with every usb connection) until the day you place new files to it.

Tip : create a shortcut on your desktop to make it more comfortable.

    Doesn't work for me.

I unzipped the file in the root directory. For example the filename is E:/noindexing.exe and I tried running it and it did all it's dos stuff but when I disconnected the M6 after it had finished it still updated the entire library, which always takes around 2mins.

When the dos screen was working it said for every file: "Not resetting system file".

I'm using the player in normal MSC connection. So in the root dir there is that noindexing file and the music, playlist, video, .. etc folders. Any idea why it aint working.

Yeah, once. (Until next file change)

That happens with files which have the "System" attribute set, especially with some desktop.ini/thumbnail pictures within album folders. Just delete those manually.

Btw, all this has been discussed several times already, use the forum search.

Ya except, I plugged it in and took it out 3 times and it still updated every time I ran that program, everytime without changing any files.

I'll have a look at those thumbnail files and system properties later, thanks for that.

if you run noindexing.exe, it will make changes to your file system and therefore enforce a library update ! If you did not change anything then don't use it ! Only if you know that you've made changes.

I think everyone and i mean everyone should use this noindexing appication.

Make sure to charge your mp3 player turned on, so as to not update your library after charging. I mean, the only time u should update the library is when you actually update the library.
    Its a neat little program.

I've got an SL too, it worked for me a few times. It is very specific. As far as I can tell when you make a change you run the program then unplug it, and it will update once. The next time you plug your M6 in as long as you don't do anything (I found even browsing the M6 without changing any files will stuff it up) it won't update.

Did you mean "Also neglecting to turn off the player when charging makes it reindex". So what you're saying is you can only charge the player off your computer, not look at files without getting a ibrary update

It's probably that they had problems with users. Most users don't check the settings in detail, and this player has a huge customer base in china.

It's a very annoying feature. I wish they could have made it optional. It's really the only thing I dislike with the player.

I was unaware that earlier version didn't have automatic rebuild.

Anyone know the answer to the following?

What are the con's in downgrading the player?
(i.e what features, and bugfixes will get lost etc).

What firmware is the latest one that doesn't include automatic rebuilding of index.

the latest firmware version with no automatic library update would be 2.003.2...to me that's the most stable version ....
as far as i know the only significant features you will be losing with a downgrade to 2.003.2 would be :
    - magnifying of selected text in menu (the menu bar)
    - no .APE support
    - the added functionality to ebooks will be lost

    aand thats about it...

Fast, informative and precise, you sir are on fire. cheers for that.

I might have to give it a try. I never used E-books or monkey anyways.
I wish they would release the software to open source or similar.

Frankly, this firmware sucks. I have the TP and didn't have any problems with it. The SL is only better to me because it's 8GB. Meizu have done a crap job with their firmware.
I can't even fast forward most songs. There are more annoying things with this player than not. If I seem angry, it's because half the time I use it, I bump into one of these issues and it makes me angry at the moment. I hide it because I don't need some apple fanboy telling me to get an iCrap.

I mean, come on! No sort by genre!?!?!?

I have the original firmware that was on the SL when I got it, in January. I have not upgraded it at all.

Everyone to there own opinion I guess, I'm actually quite happy with my meizu, I believe you can't expect the the meizu to have the software quality and backing the ipod has. With the price tag's they both have but more importantly the software development team behind both products. There are many factors, Ipod is really as an buissness concept about selling songs on itunes, so there is an insentive and budget to make a good software and upgrades. Ipod software is also mereged in the iphone. It's two diffrent worlds.
I beleive and trying to argue that It's just not a fair compare. The firmware has some serious needs for minor updates. I totally agree with that. But I see it as what it is, a steal and very competent for the amount of money I spent. I wich they woud ahve spent less time on the game's and ebooks. it just build QA for every firmware they need to release. And just have a solid player playslist and radio. But I understand why they do it. It's about peddling products.
