How many songs can fit on Meizu M6 SL 4gb & 8gb analysis

Ok since i'm waiting for my 4gb M6 SL player to arrive i am just doing an anaysis for how many songs at what music format and quality will fit on my player.

Filesize for a 5 minute length of song (estimate/rough figure)

MP3 with bitrate of 320Kbps ~ 12MB
MP3 with bitrate of 192Kbps ~ 7MB
AAC with bitrate of 320Kbps ~ 12MB
FLAC with bitrate of 700Kbps ~ 25MB
CD with bitrate of 1411Kbps ~ 51MB

So this is the base size for the music file which i normally find is 5 minutes roughly.

For me, i bought the Meizu M6 SL specifically to play lossless music, so i will be using FLAC mostly.

1 gb is 1000 mb, so 4 gb is 4 x1000 = 4000 mb.

Taking into account that some of that space is used for the Meizu M6 SL firmware, wallpaper etcs, i will shave off 500 mb ( i'm not sure how big firmware etc take up so please correct me if this is an over estimate )

So 4000-500 = 3500 mb of space for music

3500 divided by 25 mb average per FLAC lossless song = 140 songs.


So if your like me and are going to buy a Meizu M6 SL and was wondering how much space whether 4 gb and 8 gb will fit in songs on them, you can use this figures i posted :D

the system ware takes about 10 to 15 mb.
by erasing the preloaded wall paper, songs and such, you should not get those mb's back..

in general: 200 songs all in mp3, size varied, should take around 1.5 gb

I can fit about 500~600 songs in the .ogg format at 112 kbs to about 1.5 Gbs~, and 114 kbs .ogg is equivalent to 192 kbps Mp3.

Is ogg or mp3 better ?

Per bitrate Ogg Vorbis delivers more quality than the aging MP3. So you can have the same size of files with a higher quality, or the same quality with a lower filesize.

Oh i am confused by mp3 player and mp4 players.

What do they mean by mp4 players ? Is the M6 a mp4 player and if not should i be worried :d ?

Your welcome.

Nowadays people call every media player that can play video an mp4-player. Technically this is not right, MP4 is a container format which can contain MPEG4/DivX/XviD (Supported by the M6, in the AVI container.) or H264/AVC (unsupported) video and AAC audio. (unsupported)

So the M6 is an mp4-player and at the same time technically it's not. :P
