Review Cover Plate from Mofi
As you are like me, you probably prefer to getthe bottomline over a 4 pages long yacking about pros and cons so here we go:
Box comes with:
Cover Plate black
Back scratch cover for player
Red Touchstrip
Green Touchstrip
Easy to apply even though there are no instructions but in Chinese.
Cover Plate easely placed on player in about 10 seconds
Touch strip application just as simple
I didnt need the back cover the the Meizu already has one.
In Short:
Pros:
- Fairly Cheap
- fast delivery
- easy to apply
- stylish looks
- Improved touchstrip control!(for me it improved the grade for the touchstrip from a 6 to an 8) Tapping the middle now actually works, scrolling is more accurate, touchstrip is less screwy and more responsive
- Removable without problem
Cons:
- Cover plate only covers front. White of the player will still be visibile on the sides
- Surface of cover plate is very shiney and has strong reflection. Making it look nice but less suitable for video viewing
- Just 2 colors of touch strips(Red & Green). Black would have been nice.
Overall grade: 8.5 (Very Good) specially for the improvement of the touchstrip functionalityLast edited by Job; 11-16-2006 at 01:38 AM.

I have a further con --> if you touch on the display there is a possibility of developing bubles under the plate!
But all in all the plate is a good protection against Scratches....

nice quick review, one question. How easy is it to apply, did you find it difficult to apply it accuracy onto the player, i.e. no wonky edges or gaps on either sides?

I think it depends on which hardcase you have...I have the older one... and now the miniPlayer does not fit in it...the silicon case...there are no problems

I keep hearing stuff about the "elite crystal case" Essentially thats the same as a "PC Case" right?
Because I'm getting one of these strips. =)Current Rigs:

Silicone cover isnt a problem as its very stretchy
it fits in my cristal case but nmaybe not in all since its really a matter of milimeters
be sure to apply it firmly so you dont get the problems Junta mentioned.
I reb-pressed the edged for about a minute to make sure everything was in place well
as for the ease of placing the cover and strip...
I cant drive a screw in the wall but got thin thing on in 10 seconds.
its a rather stiff little plate thatis easy to place, leaves no ugly little white parts visible.
I applied the faceplate first and then the strip...worked fine for me...

Sorry to bring this up, but these faceplates are pretty much permanent right? I'm under the impression that they adhere with some sort of glue and if you were take it off, there'd be some ugly residue underneath.
I like the look of the black with red touchstrip.
Edit: "- Removable without problem" ah nevermind!
Anyone else have experience with and find the touch strip improves after putting the faceplate on?Last edited by barrist; 12-05-2006 at 08:41 PM.

without any damage to the player or glue leftovers...

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI have a few cons for my own cover plate: Ever since I put it on, when I hit the menu button, it actually presses down the FF or RW button at random instead. The hole for touch strip is too small, so it hits the sides when I push a button.
I also tried a touch strip cover, and it became extremely dull to touch, as in, it would take a lot to register the correct place I am touching at, and it would move up and THEN down when I wiped downward, and vice versa. There is also no room for movement for pushing buttons with it on, and it was hard to remove without marking the edge of the touch strip when I pried it off with an exact-o knife (only thing I could get under it).
Aside from that, the cover by itself without the touch strip fits perfectly inside the hard case, and is perfect for protecting the face of the miniplayer from scratches, and the fit in the hard case makes it hard for dirt to get inside between the miniplayer and the front of the case (in front of the screen). I like that a lot for taking it to work, since the air's filled with paper dust.I swim through a sea of stars, without looking back to shore...

@ Dchronos
Thats odd. Did you place the face plate the right way?
If you did you ight have received a paulty product...
The exact same(I assume) plate went into place perfectly and made my touchstrip more responsive
The review was written for my TP white version though.
I find the touchstrip of my SP black version to be more responsive than the one on the SP white version.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsIt could only fit one way, because I had the cover plate on already. If it was off by any amount, it'd have been stuck to the cover plate instead. The cover plate hole is too small, though. It's fitted exactly as it should be, but ever since I put it on, now very often when I hit MENU, it acts like I hit FF instead, or hits menu multiple times. When I push the button down, it hits the cover plate and causes that to happen, I can tell, because there is no gap at all to allow for the touch strip to move when you push a button.
