    Some ranting about the "quality"...

    Ok... so here's the deal...

The first thing I noticed when I got my Meizu was that the sound-check stopped working seconds into using it (a few dying ticks). No biggie though... the thing was kind of useless anyways so... who cares, right? Still a gem. Didn't think about it all that much.

Three weeks later. I finally got a new dvd-drive so I was able to get some music on it... fooled around with it properly this time. The gui was kind of awkward and I couldn't understand how you did some things. As it seemed... Boxman only moved upwards or downwards... and... well, no "and"...

I finally figured out the ffw and rew-buttons were really messed up and needed to be PRESSED DOWN. Some proper force.

By this time it felt... kind of... sucky... but still ok. I knew the 14-day shipment warranty had expired... so... as far as sending it back to China and paying the shipment for a new one... that's one expensive Meizu. With the initial price and the shipment it'd been the same price as a 4GB Clix (with no guarantee wso). Not gonna happend.

But... still... it was... ok... everything... "kind of worked"...

As of now... three months later and after minimal use (i've barely dared touching the damn thing)... the menu-button has given up. The force needed to have it respond is the same as it was back in the days with the old NES-buttons. And the funny thing about it... I've treated it like a baby and it went from one state to the other like this: *snaps*. I have done NOTHING to have it act this way. On the contrary I've been super-neurotic about it.

But as far as Meizu is concerned... where is the quality control?

Certainly anyone who's tested this thing would have found out that the ffw and rew-button doesn't work? Or that the sound-check sounds like a dying cricket? I've owned lots of daps before this one and have NEVER exeperienced such poor quality-control. It's as if there isn't one at all (though the papers clearly states there is).

To my estimation - if it were to give in permanently today - I would have payed ~$1.50 for each minute I've listened to it... and about ~$3 for each time I've used the menu-button... A real knock-off, right?

Needless to say... this will be the last time I buy a Meizu or buy anything from a foreign dealership.

In theory... this is a great player (and I still love it... oddly enough)... but in practice... *siiigh*

It is a real great player. I use my menu button more that 50 times a day, skipping through songs artists and albums. My soundcheck works like a charm, and moderate pressure will push the M, <<, >>, and enter button. I think what you have is a defected Meizu. They usually don't break, unless of course you drop it from the sears tower or something like that. It even survives a wash in the laundry. You should have sent it back the moment the sound check broke, because that was a sign something is wrong. Meizu is a quality brand. I bought mine from Walgreens.com (wierd store to sell electronics isn't it?) and have never had any problems. You should buy another from JTC Electronics. They have good customer support. Try to return yours to House of Dap, or contact them through the forum. Look up House of Dap in the members section of the forum. PM them see if they can help you. Also, how can a meizu M6 cost the same as a clix?!?!

It's apparently a known quality problem if Meizu came out with an update just to make it so that you can go back without using the menu button. Mine has never worked any differently than perfect... though mine was from the older TP version before they decided to "cheapen it up" to save themselves money like any company.
