Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsCowon D2 > Meizu M6
So my brother recently purchased a Cowon D2 and I have to say that I am in love with this thing! It has everything the current M6 or the future M6SE should have! Im not really a fan of the touchscreen, but the huge battery, TV out, 30FPS video and the SDHC expansion slot are just some of the features that amaze me. Not to mention the price of around $150USD that he bought it for.
Something else that really impressed me was the audio managing tool for the D2. It was really simple to use and included a beautiful GUI. The video encoding settings were amazing too. The ease of the program was amazing and im hoping that Meizu will look into developing something like it in the future.
Overall, I still think my M6 looks a lot nicer with its thinness compared to the D2 and I couldnt really care for the touchscreen on the D2, however im still very impressed with the features it packs into a device the size of the M6. I really hope Meizu is looking at the competition closely because they could definetly learn a lot from competitors.
I also think that this is what the SE should be all about. With the extra features, it can be for people who want more in the device. I think they should also continue producing the M6 for people who want something simpler. Probably doesnt make much sense for business though.
Ive added some pics for you guys for size comparison.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI chose M6 over D2 for the following reasons:
1. I didn't like the idea of a touch-screen.
2. D2 is bigger & heavier.
3. D2 costs more.
Other than that, I'd say that "D2 > M6" is indeed true (although some say that the sound quality of the M6 is a bit better).

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI have both of these players, imho sound is far better on the D2 but :
- the price is high so that it makes you be very careful with it.
- the touch screen for an mp3 player is a bad idea (I need to be able to blind control my mp3 player)
- the design is not smooth enough
- the SD Card data cannot be copied from card to the player (so you cannot use the D2 as a backup for your digital camera)
- to use data from SD card you have to go back to the root of the disk and then find your data on the card ( boring with a windows-like ergonomy and a touch screen)
I won't keep the D2 and will use the M6, my only regret will be the sound and video quality.

i agree that touch screen is bad..this is why i hoping the m6se will be launch soon as it has almost same features as D2 without the touch screen.

M6 looks better, is cheaper and smaller. I don't like touchscreen DAPs. But yea, Cowon D2 has more features. Meizu M6 is more worth than it I think.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI generally like toch screens, but cowon made a mess of it imo, they put way to many icons on the screen, I got to play with one and what really killed it for me was the difficulty of it. Everytime I clicked 'music' on the main screen it went to the now playing and I had to root around the screen to find how to go back to the folders. So I just kept thinking, 'I wanna go to to dam music, why are you showing me all these things?' and so it would take me 20 seconds just to get to the music list. far more comlicated than needed.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI totally agree with all of you. The M6 is far nicer, and the cost is down there compared to the D2. Im not really a fan of the touchscreen either. I think Meizu should focus on making the M6SE close to this, without the touchscreen. An expansion slot would be nice, but isnt necessary at all. One of the biggest things I like about the D2 is the audio manager, JetAudio. Meizu should definetly look into producing similar software for their line of products. The ease of of dragging and dropping files (although it cant get much easier than Windows Explorer) and their video encoding settings and methods are amazing!

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsThat is a major let down. I wonder why such an achievable feature wasnt put in?

Note the cowon's probably a more reliable firmware supporter than meizu, and is more likely to prolong product service well after the generation collects dust with newer models. However, it's all relative to price and user-preference.
I also enjoy blind-use, so some tactile control (play/pause, forwards/back, etc) is a must. The D2 is still a nice player, good for those have some extra spending money and don't mind keeping the player in a bag/case while they commute or something.
But as-stated, I feel that the company reliability is a huge factor to consider.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsAgreed. I, for one, have a Cowon D2 and it's an excellent DAP. The sound quality is amazing, battery life is great and the screen is the best color screen I've ever seen in a device this small. Of course, it's not as cheap as the Meizu M6, but IMHO it's worth every cent.
Now I mostly use the D2 for my daily commutings between home and job, and keep my M6 in the office with my PortaPros.DAPs/Buds/Misc:
Cowon D2 4GB black + 8 GB Adata SD card SOON!
M6 miniPlayer 8GB white • M3 Music Card 8GB black
Zen Vision:M 30GB white • Zen Micro 5GB • Zen V Plus 4GB
Audio Technica ATH-CK7 • Koss PortaPro • PA2V2 portable amp NEW!

I got tired of waiting for Meizu to release the M6SE so I just bought a 4GB D2 (180 USD). After comparing the specs and functions of the 2 players I think it is well worth the extra $60 USD just for the 16,000,000 colour LCD (No more blotchy video) and Flash Game support. Hoot....

One thing that I want the M6SE to support is .flv video! That would make the player a lot more intresting.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsIt's touchscreen, so you can use your fingers too lol. The pick is just their little makeshift stylus.

I've been heavily cosidering the D2 for some time, and it's the main reason why I have not purchased the m6 (with it's awesome battery) yet. If the sound bugs get fixed then I'm pretty much sold; the D2 is costy, and even with my previous budget of $200 that was for an HD based player, but I found that for durability's sake a flash-based would be far more reliable.
The paypal deal seems expired, so I can wait a bit longer....jetmall's cowon+case deal won't sour out any time soon.

i would say that the D2 is an decent player, i saw it in the local store saturn and it was quiet nice but the display was for me too smal and the price too high^^.The M6SE will be awesome and yes pls support for .flv video formats O.o and i have one question the SE will be 7mm thin but the battery? will the battery be better or worse than the current SP?

The battery will be smaller, but the lifespan isn't official, from what I gather. It's estimated to be a bit lower, though. The D2's battery is unrivaled unless compared to the same company's iAudio 7 player (60 hour life).
The screen size on both units is comparable; just look at the images at the first page. The size being too tiny is rubbish; the meizu is just as small. The resolution on the D2 trumps the 262k screen of the meizu, but honestly, I'm the type of guy who's happy with even less than that. If the Zune had better audio, I'd have bought one.
I'm not sure about .flv support, but the d2 supports flash in general meaning that it probably isn't far off. Until then there's no gripe in converting files, at least on my part.
