    Scratch Removal Using Displex

Displex is a Display Polish for mobile phones but works very effectively on the M6. With a few minutes buffing with a soft polishing cloth followed by a polish with metholated spirits to clean any residue most scratches can be quite easily removed. Some more server markings may need a second application. For best results polish in a left to right fashion rather than a circular motion and apply evenly to the entire surface including the touch strip.

Displex is like a cutting compound and contains microscopic abrasive particles. If you try to polish part of the screen or around the touch strip there is a noticable difference between where you have polished and where you have not. If you polish it as a single flat surface you get a nice uniform finish. I have done it about 6 times in the last 12 months and there has been no ill effect on the touch strip as a result.

What about the fact the polish will seep into the edges between the front and the touchstrip? It isn't a waterproof seal right there.

I purchased from a local auction site approx $5.00 USD, but I see there are also a few listings on ebay in the UK and US.

    Displex Web Site

The polish feels like it may be silicon based but most of it gets absorded by the polish cloth and after a few minutes buffing appears quite dry. I have not noticed any build up around the touch strip but after a few applications the touch strip does appear to be a little glossier than it originally was but functions as it always has.

You could always place some tape over the touch strip but you will notice where the tape has been after polishing.

Seems to work great! What I don't like about my Meizu is the metal back, it gets scratched very easy. I still like the metal back because it looks good. :P

citizenklaw, I made a search on eBay and yeah it seems to have some of them.

10-4. I did the same. I'll see if I put in an order for the product and try it. I'd like to make it work now that I have a Hard Case for the M6.

What about using Brasso, I only suggest it cause easily found in the US and has been shown to be effective on Ipods and Sansa. I've used it myself to take out light scratches off a Sansa, it works pretty well but it is more of a liquid than a paste so you would have to be careful that it doesn't seep into the player.

I just got a Meizu M6 and the first thing I did was put on a screen protector so I don't expect to be polishing out scratches anytime soon.

    Hey,

More than likely this is just pre-mixed optical grade (90%) cerium oxide. If you buy the 5 gram tube for sale on eBay, you are getting screwed. You can find dry optical grade cerium oxide on eBay, paying $USD 9.60 for four ounces delivered here in the US--22 times as much product for half again the price, not accounting for the water that the tube contains. This guy will sell you pounds of the stuff, should you need it.

Optical grade cerium oxide also straightens out your (non-prescription, uncoated, true glass) sunglasses, car windshield, glass fish tank, fine china, etc.

Hmm...I've notived that even after polishing, there are still quite a bit of scratches. Maybe that is the best you can bet, but it isn't good enough for my taste. It still looks scratched up, but a lot better than the "before" picture.
If you are having trouble with your player, please visit this thread first and try the steps before you panic. Most likely you will be able to fix your player easily using the steps listed.

Went to eBay after reading KiloScott's post. In fact you can find other retailers selling (what they claim is) purer cerium oxide. If it can be used for other applications (car, glasses, etc.) it sounds like a good deal. Being an eyeglass user myself I can relate.

Also I don't expect the scratches to ever go away, but if you can somehow buff 'em away a bit so it looks almost new I'll appreciate that.

All i can find about cerium oxide is that it is used for polishing glass and is radioactive ...?

I don't know 'brasso' (a metal polish?), but why not use a special acrylic polish?

Aren't we talking about polishing glass? The display screen on the front of the M6? If that is not glass, then ignore everything I've said. I just assumed it was glass.

Cerium oxide is about as radioactive as Fiesta Ware, which is not very. You should probably not eat it. In large quantities anyway.
