M6 SE to be released very soon - August

    Hi all

On Meizu BBS, it is said that the Meizu M6SE will be released sometime in August, with the pricing of 4GB models at 699 Yuan. Once the Meizu M6SE has hit the markets, the Meizu M6 (original) will stop production.

It is also said that the new M6 firmware will be released at the same time as the M6SE (which may be the last firmware, only my guess).

The M6SE will be 7mm in thickness. On release, the M6SE will not have any functions different then the original M6, but additional firmware releases will bring out further improvements (e.g. support of MP4, RM/RMVB, and TV-OUT).

interesting. Do you have evidence that they include some of the often demanded bug fixes in the new firmware ?

No idea, but the price is soooo freaking ridiculously cheap compared to when the M6 first came out... 699 yuan, come on! That is AUD$108 for 4GB!!! I bought my original M6 for $170 2GB .

I might get the M6SE if they, like BobbyQ said, release some new specs on it.

how much euro's would that be? it is realy a nice version of the M6, but a shame that they probably will stop support for the original M6, that is realy a minor if they do that

around 70 euros. I don't think that will be the price in europe. I even doubt if this price will be handeld in China... That's almost cheaper then the normal M6 now

Will the new firmware work on the regular m6? since there isn't anything new added to the M6SE except it's only thinner than the regular version

I am pretty sure the hardware is different for the two M6s, so therefore one firmware would not work on the other. Also - there is of course new stuff added to M6SE, but the basics of the M6SE would be like the M6 - for now.

not to impressed with all this.......what happened to all this >>>>>>>>

'The M6 SE is an improved version of the M6, featuring a 7mm thin body (down from 10mm), support for MPEG4, MPEG2, WMV9, H263/264, RM(VB) videos in 720x480 pixel resolution at 30 FPS and TV Out. It will also eliminate the need of conversion to playback videos'

if the m6se does not have 720x480 30fps support without conversion, and a picture zoom function I will be very disspointed. Surely it must have 30fps 720x480 video playback support if a firmware update will allow video out? 320x240 on any decent sized TV screen would look like a disaster.

also if they have not fixed mp3 VBR playback issues I won't be buying any meizu product until the m8 as this is a real deal clincher for me. Hopefully the m8 will not have that issue as the system is windows based.

if the m6SE has very similar functions to the regular m6 (e.g does not include 720x480 30fps video support or photo zoom functions) it seems pointless to me to shave off a few mm and then reduce the battery life.

So what's the battery life? i heard it's shorter since it's thinner =[. Are they gonna release a 16gb model?

I will believe it when I see it. A few responces to the original thread on Meizu BBS indicate the information is incorrect and I tend to agree.

I recall a couple of posts on Meizu BBS by J Wong himself stating that the M6SL could possibly start production in August, being just a thinner version of the current M6 with no additional features. It would also be the same price as the current M6 which is 699 Yuan for the 4GB.

The M6SE with all the bells and whistles however would not be ready for production until around December starting with an 8GB version for an estimated 999 Yuan.

It makes more sense to me that the M6SL would replace the current M6 as an entry level version and the M6SE in 8GB (and I'm hoping eventually 16GB) would be the next step up.

Whilst I would be over the moon if the M6SE were released in August I doubt we will see it till the end of the year.

/\/\@D/\/\@/\/ is correct the SL will be released before the SE
SL is the Slim M6 same as current Miniplayer and may also be same firmware,
SE is Special Edition / Super Edition with faster processor and more features.
    worth waiting for.

Well, Creative just released the very first 16GB flash player today, so I'm sure it shouldn't be too far behind (get with it now Meizu!!)

    http://www.anythingbutipod.com/archi...b-of-flash.php

I hope this info is incorrect, though, because it doesn't make me happy that it's coming out earlier, it makes me very cautious that it will be produced at half the expected quality, breaking down easier and being made of cheaper crap stuff that breaks and gets it a 1 month warranty to keep them from being returned or something.

Now that there is an actual tiny sized 16GB player, though (I just got to use an original Zen V yesterday), they are gonna be coming out very soon, I'm sure! Meizu should get on it right now so they can have a 16GB model ready for release soon after or at the same time as the M6 SE.

Just stating what I saw on the Meizu BBS, please dont blame me for incorrect info. ><"

But yeah... either way the thinner M6 would be much nicer, and to have TV OUT, it would definitely have to support higher resolution videos. Let's just wait and see :D

Thanks for reporting, though! We get our new news only about 5 minutes after it's announced at the official place. :P
