Should I get an M6??
There are sooo many MP3 players out now I want to make sure I get a good quality one that isn't going have issues in a month. When I found this site I couldn't believe there was an entire forum dedicated to the M6 and similar items! This right here makes feel very comfortable in purchasing one of these players. It seems like most every one here likes their Meizu player??
I also was wondering if it can play MPEG videos? Some places it sounds like it does but other places says only AVI?? Most of the internet clips I watch seem to be MPEG. These don't have expandable memory slots. That seems like a con if that is correct. I also want to make sure that I will be able to hook this player up to my new Pioneer cd player http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...744290,00.html

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsYou can simply just convert the .mpeg to .avi so no problem there.
If your car-audio player has a jack-plug it should be easy to connect the Meizu.
There is no slot for memory cards, but 8 GB is very much for me.
I got mine yesterday and I already love it... Fantastic sound quality, even with the stock buds. 'Waiting for some high-end IEMs to arrive soon...

it plays only .avi, but you have to convert the movies once anyway since you have to rotate by 90 degrees.
And yes, I think most people here love their Meizu, so do I

oh ! lol, I never knew that ... rotated everything from the beginning ..
then replace the before said with "you have to convert anyway since you need an exact resolution of 320x240 and a maximum of 20 fps"
I'll go check if rotating gives any performance advantage at all.
Edit : OK, I have cross-checked it. Encoded the same movie once with rotation and once without. Same settings for everything else. Both get played, but the rotated version plays smooth and nicely while the unrotated plays terribly choppy and even jumps.
The meizu chip definitely has to do a lot of work to rotate the video by itself.
I used 470 kbit/s libavc at fullscreen (that's BatMan's highest quality profile)
So, the truth lies in between .. like it usually does.

If you are happy with single pass, low-midrange bitrate, 15-18 fps quality videos then rotation is not neccessary, but if you want good quality 2 or 3 pass encoded, high bitrate, 20fps video then I would recommend rotating the video you will get a more fluid video and less audio sync issues if the tiny CPU does not have to perform the rotation as well as process the video.

or in other words : why should anybody ever not want to rotate ?

Wow! Not even one unhappy customer? Is everybody a Dane-Elec employee on here?!?!? LOL Another thing that made me excited about this is not only is there an entire forum but there are almost 5k members! That is awesome! How long have these guys been around? Or more specifically the M6? No one has had any internal problems with the electronics or anything? How long have you all owned one? Thanks for the responses, BTW...
One more thing, is Dane-Elec good about service or customer service?

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsAlthough I voted "I love my M6", I would actually say "I really really like my M6".
The only thing I do not like about the M6 is how the slow playlist support. For example, I made a large playlist of ~80 songs and I have to wait 30+ seconds before it will start playing (shorter playlists take only a few seconds).
Other than that, the sound quality, video quality, photo quality, color quality, FM quality is reeeeally nice.
EDIT: This pause only occurs after saving a playlist, not before.Last edited by serleomar; 07-20-2007 at 06:32 PM.

Thanks for the response. So the 4GB should be able to hold maybe up to 8 full length movies. That's cool.
Thanks for everybody who has helped in answering my questions, even though some of them have gone unanswered. Maybe I can do some more searching.
We did end up ordering the M6 and should be recieving them (one for the wife and I) Monday or Tuesday. We went through newegg. We also ordered more accessories from jtcelectronics.
30 people who love their players! That's awesome.
