Podcast Management and Updates?
Does anyone know of a good way to manage and sync podcasts on an M6. On iTunes is seemless, but since I broke from the herd I've been missing my podcasts.
I'm using Mediamonkey and Doppler right now but I can't get it to work consistently. I have Winamp on my machine as well, but I need a little guidance.
Thanks

I use Mediamonkey and MyPodder. I created an automatic playlist that looks for the podcasts, and then I transfer and order the podcasts from the auto playlist to a standard playlist.
After this, syncing the playlist to the M6 is a cinch. It's not quite iTunes easy, but it certainly beats other things I've tried including WMP and Winamp.

I'm using hpodder on linux right now.
FEATURE LIST
· Convenient, easy to learn, and fast command-line interface (it’s sim‐
ple to do simple things, and advanced things are possible)
· Automatic discovery of feed metadata such as title
· Full history database for accurate prevention of duplicate downloads
and tracking of new episodes
· Conversion tools to convert your existing feed list and history from
other applications to hpodder. Supported applications and formats
include: castpodder and ipodder.
· Most operations can work fully automatically across your entire pod‐
cast database, or they can work manually as well.
· Automatic updating of ID3 (v1 and v2) tags based on metadata in the
podcast itself. This important feature is available through iTunes
but is often missed by other podcatchers.
· hpodder operations can be easily scripted or scheduled using regular
operating system tools.
· Fully customizable naming scheme for downloaded episodes, including
a name collision detection and workaround algorithm.
· Automatic support for appending .mp3 extensions to MP3 files that
lack it.
· Numerous database and history inquiry toolsSmall moves, Ellie, small moves.

I tried to sync using playlists in MediaMonkey but I keep getting every darn podcast and not just the latest.
Hpodder looks great, but I am still a Windows user. I just put Feisty Fawn on my laptop but I can't seem to get the wireless to work. Until that happens I can't make the switch8GB Meizu M6

OK
Let me explain how I go about it:
I use MyPodder's Windows client, which syncronizes my podcasts to Podcast Ready servers (which BTW is pretty nifty if you want to listen to your podcasts online). When installing MyPodder, I tell it where to save the files (normally under a 'Podcasts' directory in 'My Music').
Then up comes MediaMonkey. Since the Podcasts directory is under 'My Music' and MediaMonkey is setup to scan everything under it, it detects the podcasts. I created an AutoPlaylist that only detects podcasts, but I can't order the autoplaylist the way I want. I created a normal playlist in which I transfer and I order the podcasts.
Then it's a matter of telling MediaMonkey which playlists I want transferred to the M6.
MyPodder is quite good keeping up to date with podcasts, and it also depends on the feed. Before downloading if I'm not up to date with my podcasts (say after a long vacation) I can uncheck the podcasts I don't want.
Hope it helps. I'm actually waiting for the day that we have seamless functionality between syncing podcasts and the M6 (a la iTunes).

Well, I've gotten it down to a science and a routine. Since I've my playlists setup, etc. it's easy for me to download, grab and go. I wish it would be seamless, and bi-directional, but that's one of the things you sacrifice when going against the herd.
Yea, they can have my M6. When they pry it from my cold, dead fingers.

I'm going to give MyPodder a chance. Does anyone out there use it to download directly to their M6?

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI recently got my wife a sansa express, she is using doppler for windows XP it seems to do a good job of downloading everything, it puts them all in a single folder so they're easy to copy over to it.. i imagine it can do some more automated stuff but I haven't had a chance to use it much.
Personally I use amarok in linux to handle my podcasts it does a great job, best media player for desktop IMHO.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsWell good news is that the next release of MediaMonkey has Podcast functionality built right in. Haven't tried it myself so I don't know how good it is (using the standard free version of MM). But if you have a Lifetime Gold account you can download MM Alpha 7 which has the feature.
I found out about it from this site an article over at the 14lines blog:

Actually looking forward to this... Heh, may dish out the $35 bucks for a Lifetime Gold account just to get it.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsJuice was ok, but I've been happier with (no pun intended) HappyFish. However, I've yet to find a decent Windows Podcatcher that lets me tweek both the filename and all of the major ID3 tags. I usually set Artist to Podcasts because I usually browse by artist most of the time with my Meizu (still wish they had a browse by Genre)... Although lately I've since created a separate podcast folder on the root level of my M6 where I have Media Monkey sync to and then browse by folder. I'm also experimenting with auto-playlists to segregate my podcasts from my music.
I know with Juice you can run scripts and executables per download and could probably set up a decent MP3 Tag Studio macro to do the job. But juice doesn't let you setup unique macros per cast.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsHappyfish, jPodder, iPodder ... whatever. Nearly every Podcast program can create a WMP playlist. WMP 11 (or 10) --> Sync --> automatic sync by connect --> own playlist (playlist from podcast software)
DONE!
Just plug in the M6 to your PC, wait a few moments and the new podcasts are on your MiniPlayer!
