M6 vs M3 size

This is a discussion on M6 vs M3 size within the General Meizu M6 forums, part of the miniPlayer M6 / SL category; I was wondering what the size differences between the M6 and M3 were. I'm looking for an iPod nano equivalent ...

    M6 vs M3 size

I was wondering what the size differences between the M6 and M3 were. I'm looking for an iPod nano equivalent sized player, basically something small, light and thin enough to disappear in my back pocket. Some quick research found that the M6 is thicker (and bigger) then the M3 (duh), which is the same thickness as the Nano, which lead me to the conclusion of the M3 (as I find the Nano the perfect thickness/weight etc).

But with the M6SE coming up set to be as thin as the M3, I was wondering how it's width/height compared to the M3 and the Nano.

    Cheers

I think M6SE will be the same size as the M6 but only 7mm thin.

Wow I wasn't expecting the M6 too be shorter then a Nano! And I was expecting something wider but not less so than a credit card!

I'm starting to think that the M6 is worth the small increase in size for video playback....

Would any M6 owners like to comment on how "managable" the size is, especially compared to the M3 (I know there are a lot of people who have both!)

Both players are compact and managable but the M6 is possibly a little more robust if you want to carry it in your back pocket.

Wow, thank you kindly for the pictures! Comparing the two I keep thinking the M6 looks too big, but I have to keep reminding myself how small the M3 really is!

How do you use the controls on the M6? Is it held horizontally and is there a scroll strip like the M3 or is it just 4 directional buttons?

    Cheers!

    Controls are:

    - touch-sensitive up, middle, and down
    - buttons on all four sides of the touchpad:
    - top = back button
    - bottom = enter button
    - left = rewind button
    - right = fast forward button
    - button at the top right corner of M6 is on/play/pause button
    - has a hold key on the bottom right corner of the M6.
    - stuff on the right side of M6 include:
    - usb port
    - microphone
    - earphone plug hole
    - a slot for keychain-related items

based on those pictures, is the M6 basically the size and thickness of an ipod video?

Woah. The M6 is smaller than I tought. The SE edition will be soo cool I think. Imagine, as thin as a music card, and better than a M6!

They come with a factory installed protection film (both front and back). It's a pretty nice feature compared to most DAP's. A crystal case would give you additional protection, or using an additional removable film piece would also add some protection as well.

Yep, I also recomend using the pouch it came with. The good part is that if you do get any scratches it will just be on the protective film, so if you can find a replacement film you can just replace it, then it will as good as new again.(it would be awesome if you sold replacement films jtc, I would definitely buy)

Are there any features that the iPods/Nanos have that the M3/M6 lack?

Do both the M3/M6 support embedded album art? Is there a full-screen album art view (of the currently played song)? Do they support gapless play? Any counter-part to the recently added search feature of the iPods/Nanos?

I don't think that M3/M6 lacks much that iPod has. iPod's on the other side, lacks "change backround" feature, and that is very important for me, also, you can't change theme's on iPods. But one thing is, Meizu's doesn't have a search function. Maybe in a future firmware update they will. I like my M3 more than iPod Nano by far. When I got my Meizu, I became anti-apple.(when it comes to media players, maybe phones in the future ^^) iPod's are way to overated, expensive crap. You need to use iTunes with iPod's, which I hate a lot. And someone said that Meizu's are more buggy than iPod's, not true. M3s firmware doesn't support album art atm, but it will in next firmware I think.
