    Metal Backing Scratch Issues?

In all my experience with iPods and their elegant design, there has always been one thing I thought flawed them overall. The metal backing, even in careful use, attracts very noticeable and ugly scratches. Now, I realize that the Meizu M6 also has a similarly textured surface. My real question is, does it collect those signature scratches also? I know also about the scratch resistant layer they added to the Meizu to help dissuade this problem but I am still wary at the idea of even scratching through that layer easily.

    Alright, thankyou!

My M6 didn't get scratched at all... that is, until I made the mistake of taking of the protective plastic.

I never saw a single scratch till I did so and now it looks as though it got attacked by a cheese grater.

If it is made of the same material, then it is scratchable. Basically, if you don't let your metal backing touch anything (which is impossible) then it won't get scratched. I reckon questions such as "will my backing be scratched" is a question that requires no answer - you can answer that yourself.

you wont scratch through the layer as its pretty touch. unless you take a screwdriver to it
the protective foil doesnt just come off or anything

due to the protective foil my M6 hasn't gotten any scratches on the metal at all in over 6 months.

just dont remove the protective foil cause if you do the M6 will scratch as quick as the ipod.

It looks like I got scratches to the backing of M6, however it might just be the scratch to the extra film stuck on the back that you're meant to remove :P

the extra film stuff is meant to stay on, and with that on I only get fingerprints which you can clean off. The backing metal is not so tough however. And it is quite soft. In other words, the end of a paperclip will practically ruin the mirror look, so be careful

I've thought of removing the protective layer as i've seen some pretty awful sticky-ish marks gotten from placing the back on a sticky surface.

But decided not to since i still can live with it.

I accidentally removed my back film because the meizu directions said there was an extra layer to remove on the back, there was not. I was able to put it back on, but I put it back on a little bit crooked, there are a few bubbles and there is dust between the player and the layer )-:

I had two plastic coating layers on the back of mine when delivered. The manual said to remove the first one, and leave the second one....no scratches so far.

Also, I purchased a 13 pack of large Palm covers for the front protective coating, which I damaged while mowing with keys in my pocket. I could not get it cut exactly right for the slider touch pad, so the second try I just covered the whole damn front. Still works like it should....but took a bit if getting used too, as the sensitivity went down (not a bad thing actually). The layers are sold by Belkin, and run about $16 for two surfaces, or $20 for 13 of them...go figure. I bought the 13 pack at Staples. I highly recommend them!
