How To: Use Dock Icons for the miniPlayer
This guide explains how to give your M6 a drive image in My Computer, Windows. Depending on the icon choice, it will look more or less like this:

There are 15 icons to choose from, they can be seen below:

Here is how you do it:
1. Download the attached files and extract anywhere.
2. Look at the image above and choose an icon.
3. Copy your extracted files onto your mp3 player. Put autorun.inf in the root, and the icons in the SYSTEM folder.
4. Open autorun.inf with Notepad. You will see that it points to a icon, by default it is icon 1 ("icon=SYSTEM\M6_icon_1.ico"). If you have chosen to use another icon, just change the icon name. For example, if I choose to have icon 5, it will say "icon=SYSTEM\M6_icon_5.ico" in my autorun file.
5. Save, you can delete the unused icons from your player if you want. You can also change the drive name from "Meizu miniPlayer" to anything else, simply change the text after "label=" in the autorun.
6. Disconnect, reconnect. Voilá!Can't wait to play with the Meizu MX!

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsWhat a nice trick!! Thanks Err0r. I also just discovered that you can do this with other USB items such as a USB stick. Very helpful. Thanks.
Oh, and neofusionx, if you download the .rar, you'll see the individual icon files in a directory.

If it does not work you have installed it wrong. Did you follow the procedure above?

You may be erasing the label [autorun] that must be the first sentence on file.
Your file autorun.inf should have the following information inside:
[autorun]
icon=SYSTEM\M6.ico
In my case i renamed the icon that i like to "M6.ico" and copied to System folder.

Well, it could be that you have disabled the autorun option for devices. do you get a screen asking you what to do when you plug in any other device such as USB memory or cameras?

That's the only content i have on in autorun.inf file ... that's the icon im using.
Try connecting in another computer... if you have the same as i have, then im pretty sure you have disabled the autorun functionality on windows.Last edited by marcelo1251; 11-20-2006 at 09:25 PM.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI'm new to this place, and I'm loving all this stuff I'm finding out here... exactly the kind of stuff I hoped would surface on this M6, though I figured it'd be half a year from now before I found anything about actually modifying the M6's background and stuff. Awesome!
Anyway, looking at this autorun thing, I was wondering, for all those program nuts out there, if it's possible to write a small custom program of some type that acts like a navigator for the M6, or other UMS device that would run with autorun?
Oh, and I have one other question... I'd like to have the M6_icon_1, but have it be the same size as the M6_icon_6 icon. They both use transperency, and the only difference is that icon 1 has a bunch of other icons in it for what appears to be different screen settings, and icon 6 has only 3 different ones in it. Could you possibly make icon 1 like 6? Otherwise, could you tell me what you used to combine the icons into one icon?Last edited by DChronos; 12-19-2006 at 03:43 AM. Reason: added something
