POSSIBLY BUYING A MEIZU PLAYER, have questions first! Please any help

The main alternatives I have been looking at are Cowon iAudio T2 and iPod shuffle - but I don't really want an ipod because I don't like the crap that you have to install their adware program itunes just to copy files to it, I like being able to access like a usb pen - oh and I like FLAC quality better than MP3

Anyone know how effective the arm bands are for M3 (and M6) (with gym, running and martial arts in mind)? Do they need a case for them? I cannot find any official ones only third party ones and having bought phone fascias from Hong Kong etc before I found they are usually very low "ripoff" quality

Is it true that the M6 will be discontinued soon like "The Torminator" says?

Does the M6 player really have a better sound chip than the M3 like a forum administrator said here? Is there any source for this information? I am only interested in audio not video (hate small screens), so it is the only reason why I would buy an M6 over an M3, so it's quite important for me to know!

What is the difference between M6SL and M6SE?

Is there going to be a new M6 version released? When I go to the Meizu "About" page it says that "Hey guys! MEIZU M6 mini player is coming!! 2007-12-11" however according to Wikipedia the M6 player was released in 2006, so does it mean a new "Generation 2" edition (like iPod "generations") is coming?

People reading this thread who post here, is there any reason why the M8 seems to be so much more popular than M3 or M6 here? I looked at 10 most recent pages and I cannot find any posts about M3 or M6 :/ I am not looking for a phone, I keep my phone turned off a lot and would not want to have to have a phone on to listen to music

Yes Meizu would qualify here. People most don’t like Ipod her what I can think of. Yes apple got no FLAC support unless Rockbox would change that but using Itunes, I say no thanks.

I believe Meizu never made any armbands, crystal cases for M3 and M6 officially, so all you will find are third party ones (if you lucky finding some anyway). They only made silicones cases. I have one armband for my M6 SP but never tried use it. The build quality was pretty good so no complains here. I have to use a crystal cases with it btw.

To go deeper what I said earlier to you, the M6 is a almost 4 years old player now. they will not stay on market forever, so it's better time save yours before it's too late.

To refresh some old information we got 5 different versions of M6’s out there, T1, TP, SP, SL and TS.
T1 and TP were the first ones than came out (back in 2006) (before my time here) but those got replaced by the SP. These are the old fat version of the M6. The SP just went out of production almost a year ago, so you won’t really find those any more. The SL is the new slim version of M6 that you should still fairly be able to find around.
The TS is the most recent version. Almost identical but with different screen. I’ve head recently this one should be discontinued as well. Not sure why they went out to that decision to discontinue it already.

To say honest you won’t find the M3 music card any longer, at least I don’t. Go get an M6SL while you can. IMO it has slightly better mid presentation compare all the previously players.

There is no M6SE. If there should be a next generation of a PMP it should be named M7 but Meizu somehow didn’t choose to work further on this one and did focus totally on the M8 and upcoming phones.
I have no idea if Meizu ever will go back making PMP’s again. I actually still like to see this M7 coming. Meizu make great music players.
M8 just didn’t impress us much on that point. From members around here, it was a downgrade on sound quality.

This is very old news you got there. I already answered in this.

For music playback only, M8 would be overkill and waste of money. Other than that once again I have already explained why to you.
M8 is the new current hot project right now, while M6 and M3 getting out of date. That's it. You should really search next time.

The armband feels like great quality, you can use it both with silicon case and crystal case.

The TS version is absolutely final, the ***** team told me that they've bought from their last stock as it's already out of production. Screen is better than SL, sound probably the same. According to some Meizu news, battery life might also have increased a little over SL, though probably SP had the best accu (700 instead of 400 mAh, but SL and TS have better power management).
Something that may be important for you, the difference between the lower volumes (1-6) is much greater on the TS than on SP. This means, volume 3 is too low to hear even on low impedance in-earphones and in a silent area; while on the SP I could even listen to volume 2 in my room. But on the higher volumes, both are very and similarly loud. After all, my ears hurt a lot when I use in-earphones and volume over 20 (max: 40), so you don't have to worry that the Meizu won't be loud enough ;-)

I can tell you you can't be disappointed with M6 TS. I have experienced most problems one can have with a Meizu player, so if something happens just PM me.
Also scrolling is very good on Meizu, you have four ways of scrolling:
*) Pressing |<< or >>| for jumping to beginning, middle or end of the list (for ebooks, there are about 6 positions instead of 3)
*) Standard: gliding over the touchstrap up or down for scrolling 1-~12 entries, depending on how long you glide of course
*) Single entry scroll: tap at the upper or lower part of the touchstrap shortly to scroll one entry up/down (for ebooks, you go one page back/forward)
*) Fast scroll: keep your finger at a part of the touchstrap (same postion as for single entry scroll) to start auto-scroll. About 10 entries/ second. For ebooks: Scrolling accelerates over time. As this is not so with music/menu lists, I recommend using "jump to middle/end" first with very long lists.

Sound quality is really great, there have been many reviews by audipphiles praising the M6 as best-sounding quality player with much lower price than similar pmps. The PCE (phase corrected equalizer) adds a lot into many earphones. The bass boost works great too, equalizer is 10-band (!). What you should never used is "natural headphone" mode, "virtual bass enhancement" and "Virtual 3D".

thanks looks like I'll get one if I can find somewhere that ships to UK :O Please PM me any recommendations you or anyone else I am happy for any info since seems your attempt at helping got wiped :/ not buying for price I can afford an ipod but as mentioned before I don't like how they force you to install adware (iTunes) simply to access your music, it's nasty. sneaky and deliberately making things more complicated for reasons of profit and I won't participate/fund it - that and deliberately not supporting open source lossless FLAC and only their own apple crap

oh it seems especially hard to find out whether they are normal or SL or TS version, I dd not even know there was a TS version til you said, I only knew about SL because of Meizu on Wikipedia

I am very happy with my M6. Using it for 3 years now on a daily basis. ipod's sound quality just does not compare. Every night I fall asleep in my personal concert hall ...No way I ever give it away.
Then again, this is a Meizu fan forum .. but you miss a great little device for sure by buying an ... nah I don't say it again. That .. shuffle .. thing that everybody and their sister has.

sound quality : I did not run any professional sound test, no. It was maybe 2 years ago when a friend of mine (ipod owner) saw my M6 and asked how it sounded. Then we compared our devices with the same earphones and the Meizu was way better. The ipod sounded pretty dull while the Meizu brought the music "to life". Same mp3 file.
I don't remember which generation ipod that was, but he said he had it just new, so I am not sure if apple has made any progress in that matter for the last 2 years.

I reading many reviews what people say about all kinds of players and Apple is usually known not been the best among them, more likely below to all others. Still the newer generations of iPod has improved greatly and especially the newest Ipod Touch is getting good reviews on that point.
I just don't think a shuffle is that good but can't say since I don't deal with Apple at all.
Cowon usually ranked higher when come to sound (still personal preference) and even my S9 I'm using 30% of my time didn't feel like an huge upgrade from the M6 on some points. Won't say Meizu is weak either.

No you probably won't find the TS version in the UK. Not many Meizu products gets international release nowadays, and no you not even find in the US, unless you might be lucky see a few resellers that stock some.
I was in contact with the store that Kanado spook about but I was more likely too late and they got sold out. Not sure what we gonna do now in this case.

The Meizu M6 SL is good as similar player with some advantages actually. We got plenty of skins here for this one and you can get more help for this one if something going wrong for you with it. I searched Google for it but must say i didn't found much useful myself inside the UK. It's really shrinking on this one as well. One place I know you still find them easily is eBay. I'm sure about that.

Have you search for this TS yourself? We find stores but nothing useful. He also posted Google links in the post above so whats the deal....what a fail.

Calm down (both). BobbyQ sometimes having such tenders be against. I hope he just mean by fun but he should remember say so or was it just a mistake? I just won't comment more on this, not my problem.
