Meizu miniOne M8 mentioned on iLounge (Major product reviewer)
I came across this today. The M8 is actually getting some attention from reputable sources, in this case, iLounge, which is a very large site dedicated to Apple products. Many manusfacturers tout on their packages in the store that their products have recieved good feedback from iLounge, including many Logitech speaker systems. It's really nice to see Meizu getting some attention, especially from a organization as big as this.

04-30-2009 #2This is ridiculous. Why don't you call your Samsung Instinct and LG Prada 'Fake iPhones'?Fake iPhones—like the Meizu M8—are particularly popular

Even though they kind of say it's a knockoff, you have to give it to them that this made their front page (also considering that they are Apple focused, though they did review the new shuffle and gave it a C). They don't say anything bad about it, they even said that it was popular, although they do say many knockoffs don't pay a tax, which I'm sure Meizu does pay.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 Poststhis is quite a ridiculous post. this article is load with misinformation, and at some points just plain ignorance. china does have bootlegging issues and the problems mentioned in the article does occur, but to generalize things the way the articles does is ridiculous. as a native born chinese im quite annoyed by this article. if you are gonna post an article, have more than 50% of the article to be true. anyways sorry for the rant.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI haven't read the article, but lets face it the M8 was very much inspired and intended to emulate the iphone. And for those of us who started following it two+ years ago was for the reason that it promised to be an 'iphone' on a windows platform (amongst other things)
Calling it a fake iphone is 'symantically' incorrect - it doesn't use the iphone or apple logos
Calling it a clone or such isn't wrong - and you too jkpwnster have said on more than one occassion that meizu should stop trying to copy the iphone or apple - so lets not be hypocritical.
Everything about the phone from the WHITE accessories that it ships with to the firmware is more than just borrowed from the iphone/apple.
... and we have seen that the meizu developer continually look to the iphone for inspiration eg. sound recorder app
Now the M8 isn't the only phone looking to capitalize on the iphone success and touch screen phones can't all be called fake or cloned iphones; neither can the iphone take the place of being the first touchscreen phone, but lets call it like it is...

Thanked 14 Times in 10 Postsive said it before and ill say it again, clone isnt the right word, copy isnt the right word because the m8 isnt your average copy that you will find on the streets. i havnt got the word yet, but the clone/copy argument is pi**ing me off. adaptation, maybe? any word, just not clone or copy... OR fake.

Like many others, I don't see their news article as good publicity. They just lumped the M8 together with some cheap POS clones.
Can't wait to play with the Meizu MX!
