In another post I opened up today I used a grabbing headline for another issue. This is different. This is about the release of NIN's new album and what that means.
If you haven't already, go to
Ghosts - Splash and check it out. For free you get the first 9 tracks of the release (of about 36), a bunch of wallpapers, a pdf booklet. All DRM free. I'll probably plunk down the $5 for the entire thing. Another thing that's cool is that while your playing the tracks (not in the M6 since mine's not working) the cover art changes by song!. That's really cool.
I think NIN has defined an era more so than Radiohead did. Radiohead's intentions were great, but they failed in execution. NIN not only gives you the music, they sell you an experience. Case in point my new WinXP wallpaper is one of the files I downloaded.
I think it's a good day for those of us that do not like DRM (I'm looking at you iTunes). Now, if I can only make my M6 functional again I'll be happy.
