Losing the faith while looking back...

It's been almost a year and a half since I've gotten my M6. Yes, it's time to look back a bit and I'm confessing to this board that I'm losing my faith. I still have hope that some things get fixed in upcoming firmware revisions, but given the fact that Meizu is focused on getting the M8 out the door I see it unlikely. Here goes:

Lately I've been purchasing legal songs from Amazon's MP3 Store (Cool, btw). Why on God's blue earth does the M6 NOT recognize the correct song order of the CD's I purchased? WMP does. The tags are correct. Why? No matter how I copy the tracks (manually or through WMP) the end up displayed in an incorrect order. This happens only on downloaded music, and particularly on music I've gotten on Amazon. You'll tell me: 'don't buy it' or 'check the tag'. The tags are correct. Both WMP and Winamp read the tags OK. Switching between MSC and MTP mode does not help, which brings me to...

Cover Art. I won't dwelve too much on this. I've seen the posts around the board on the various forms of black magic necessary to get Album Art into the player. Not good. Any modern player with similar capabilities as the M6 is able to do this. Why not the M6?

The stuttering. 'nuff said.

On some tracks, specially low bitrate Podcasts, when I stop and resume playback the track will get stuck in the same position for about a second and a half. I have to restart the track and fast forward to where I was. Not very good when you stop the car and go again.

These may be minor things, and I've put up with some of this stuff for the better part of last year. But seeing, and testing, what other players can do (excluding the iPod) gives me a great heart ache.

I'll hold on for a few months. I'm waiting on the fence to see if Meizu gets its act together and fixes a lot of things for the M6. But I won't be waiting long. I want something that works. I don't want to use various programs to manage my M6 (I use three). I want to use ONE. I want to plug in, send my music, plug out and go. Copy/Paste is to simplistic for me; if I'm able to manage my device through a Music Library I should be able to take full advantage of the software's capabilities.

How can we rally this community of users? Ladies and Gents, we're being left behind. While our devices set us appart from the iSheep, we are being left behind in the technological capabilities curve. Let's do something!

Short lived indeed. Although in my case, I'm not really bugged that much as I own multiple mp3 players to keep me satisfied :D

How long have meizu supported the M6? roughly one year?

Hey, I know how you feel. It always seems that the M6 is so close to being great and these little things add up to sour it. Personally they don't really bother me, cause with a little effort most things will work, but again not nice and easy like other players. One note though, make sure your mp3 tags comment area is blank. On my M6 if there's anything there the order gets screwed up. And Amazon mp3 have comments by default. It may not be exactly right, mine sometimes puts the tracks past the 9th first, but if I skip down to the actually first track at least I can get it to play the order right. I dunno if it'll help, but hey. Still agree that it shouldn't be that way and fixes are long due.

Tried removing the comments and it did reorder the tracks correctly in one of the albums at least until track number 9 or so. Still this is one of the things that irks me. I shouldn't be handling my player in this manner. I should be able to plug it in, transfer music and go.

It's one of the things that's pushing me away from the player. It's not that I don't like to tweak my stuff; but I don't like to put an Album in the player to find out later that the songs are out of order, specially albums that I like a lot.

Hmm, methinks all is not lost. I've downloaded the new version of MediaMonkey (v.3) and I think this is a good case of software rescuing hardware. I'll review it in another posting. But it has breathed new life into my M6.

For some idiotic reason, the M6 does not read the ID3 info that contains the track number, so utterly dumb, I don't get it...

Well first off I'd like to introduce myself I've been lurking around these forums for about 8 months and never registered because of the fact that I've had not one problem with my m6.

I know that sometimes the usb mode can change things up... maybe try MSC if you havent already. As for WMP and syncing I haven't had a problem maybe try messing with song order. I find it funny that if you have it tagged correctly in WMP that it doesnt work. Then again I've never had any problems....

As for the m6 I still believe for the price you get the most bang for your buck. I live in Texas near the coast and when I bring out my m6 people are blown away by sound quality on stock buds, the cost, the size of screen, and the fact it owns the nano. The only comparable player I can see that would be close to the m6 would be cowons D2 or w/e. Sure the m8 will be very delayed but I want a quality music player and phone not a quality phone with a tacked on music player. I believe the m8 will really exceed everything in the market even if it is lacking some features.

Well there's been some developments lately, mainly by using MediaMonkey (see my post on the forum). I think that for my necessities MM bridges the gap nicely.
